ISTG we can never get the tail out cheaply. So many times in the past few years where **** like this has happened.

Shamar Joseph, a bowler with only 5 FC games and he's smacking Hazlewood around on Test debut...love it 😀

Cummins is too data-reliant for these situations imo. He has data that most of the time bouncers get wickets that it takes him too long to recalibrate and by then the batter is in.

They don't exactly help themselves by making it very touch and go whether we'll even get to the weekend.
It's the same with a lot of test scheduling. Pretty sure a couple of tests recently have started on a Monday. There really isn't much reason to start on any days other than Friday or maybe Thursday, unless there's holidays or something. That way you maximise all your audiences.

It's such a no-brainer.

Starting on Thursday makes sense for really high profile marquee games where you're guaranteed to sell out the first two days. But yeah otherwise Friday should be the default outside of the public holiday periods. Starting on a regular Wednesday simply shouldn't be a thing and starting on a Monday/Tuesday should be a mass sackable offence.

Put simply 'we're' losing money' is a poor excuse when you're not doing something that is incredibly simple and practically costless to maximise revenue.

The only excuse is a worse watched day 5, but considering many matches are over in spirit if not substance by then, I doubt it outweighs the loss at the start. It's just tradition for tradition's sake.

Not a lot there for him and it's still only a few games but wow has Lyon been ineffective since Perth.

I think it's not just that, but this attack is not that great when the ball gets really old, and certain types of attacking batting are quite effective against it, because the bowlers are all very conventional.

But these worse batting lineups often don't have the discipline to survive that long and are mentally defeated by the time they get to this stage. I think the batsmen also often try too many straight bat lofted shots on the offside.
