Yeah it was 112 from 54, then Kuldeep conceded just 2 runs making it 110 from 48Tough luck for NZ, toss was quite important here today.
Mitchell was insane. The six hitting down the ground was Guptillesque. At one point after the Siraj over they needed 100 from 50 or thereabouts and it was genuine brick ****ting territory.
Cannot stress how important the start from Rohit was. Just allows the rest to bat stress free knowing that if you don’t **** up 300 on the board is easy and 350+ is there for the taking if you bat well.
And Gill took over after Rohit got out and kept up the momentum. Played a really good hand.Cannot stress how important the start from Rohit was.
I can't think of a single NZ player in history to compare Mitchell to. There's no one who touches him as a player who can do it all - play pace or spin, bat long periods, hit at the death, milk singles, clear the boundary, and most importantly do it against the best teams in the huge moments.Mitchell was insane. Most importantly he is a clutch player .Mitchell is another big positive for us, he has filled that aggressive no,4 role that Ross Taylor had brilliantly, just a pity he is 32 and not 10 years younger.
We should hopefully be able to get another 4 or 5 years out of him though, maybe more if we are lucky, he seems indestructible, I am always believing.
with no dew and pitch getting good gripSo proud of how Kuldeep came back. Champion bowler.
Rohit's runs at the top provide a lot of cushion to us. If he got out early today, things would've been a lot different.Man there was a period which gave me serious 2016 PTSD.
Even there we didn't go as hard as we could (ended on 190 odd for 2)
Took two early wickets but then everything started going wrong with no ball wickets etc. Even today with the botched run out and the dropped catch etc.
I get your point but I can't see India changing a winning formula. If the pitch for the final is proper spin friendly, should India consider dropping Siraj for Ashwin?
Being a first world country helps. Ultimately sports is a rich man's game. How can a nation of 5 million population be so good in Cricket when it is not even in their no.1 sports ?
