TMOs lose their first T20... do this lots and always end up regretting it. I don't really know why it happens, because I don't really change things up much, just lose the first game often! Its that ME again!

GG CC decided to drop their skipper, Peter Sutherland due to his low touch (7).
We batted first and made 202 in the 20 overs...and then bowled them out for 128. Four wickets apiece for Petley and Xenos with Ismail, the offie with 2 for himself.

Good win.

Some of the commentary is erm...odd

leg side wideleavePerfectKnight takes cleanly
Akers is keeping cool under intense pressure - Got away with a miss read

Akers just started his first spell as the bowler in a bot match. What is he misreading?

The misread is the batsmen... Akers is keeping cool, and the batsmen misread the delivery.

And yes the commentary is many times... odd.

Congrats on your emphatic Playoff win vs Charminster CC earlier today @ataraxia - have just edited my last post to reflect your win - was tempted to do so at the time of writing but we then started to score runs and went from 100% sure we'd lose to just the 99% sure!

Have sent you a friendly request for the Cup Semi Final on 28 October 22:00 in game time - @ataraxia

Seasonal aims:
  • Remain in a SOD 2.3 marked by having two halves of teams in terms of quality, AX–W at the high end of the weaker half
  • Promote out of T20 3.1 (unfortunately a long shot)
  • Remain in DEV 1.1, seeing out a glut of firings to happen some time soon – particularly of older Dev players
AX–W season 35 in review:

SOD 2.3 accomplished. The other three in the weaker half were demoted. Actually ended up winning 8 games – that SOD side became pretty ****ing good as the season progressed, evidenced by that mad QF run in the Cup, upsets galore. In the league, ul-Haq scored 605 (888) and Hurst was the other standout, averaging 43.83 and striking at 84.98. A relatively mild season for O'Callaghan. Bowling-wise, Ramsbottom was the star, topping both the averages and the economies. Normally a gun anyhow, he wasn't harmed by being at 19–20 touch for about half the season.

Snuck through T20 3.1 against two other similar human teams, pleasingly. It was a nice little vindication for Mortimer and Hastelow, two specialist sloggers AX–W curated. In the decider, Mortimer smoked 75 (34) and Hastelow 49* (13) in a total of 251–5. Not quite a 269, but oh well.

Ended up absolutely middle of the road in the DEV. It's odd how one seems to stay afloat in these DEV 1.1s with 45K sides skewed towards IGT; not complaining.

Again, all aims were successful. Both main and affiliate really did have all the luck last season. Long may it continue. Season 36 aims:
  • remain in DEV 1.1
  • score 80 total points across T20 2.1 and SOD 2.3
  • find 21 games to play for each of our 6 young batting prospects (that's the tough one)
  • discombobulate the Cup once more

Hall of Fame entries:

AXI have decided that the time has come for Steve Ludlow to be inducted into the HoF, at 29. His role of spearheading a very effective bowling attack, especially away on high moisture wickets, does not necessary reflect itself in statistics but has not gone unnoticed. Recently he became the first player to reach 1000 wickets for the club, beating Rehman Kaiser to the post, if Ludlow did take 200 more games.

The real standout for AX–W was Afzaal ul-Haq, but he's already made himself an entry. So instead it goes to Tye Ramsbottom, who was pipped to the post by Hurst last season but this time cemented himself as an immensely impactful fast bowler for the team – especially with the touch gods watching over him!
