Aims for season 35:
  • remain in both senior divisions
  • come top 2 in one senior division
  • come top 3 in DEV 1.1
  • briefly enter the world top 5
Time for another season's review.

AXI receive four ticks. Won all three, and plateaued at I believe #3 in the world. That went rather well.

SOD 1.1 had just one point in it. The batting was exceptional: Simmonds 827 @ 59.07; Zahid 645 @ 46.07; Smith 690 @ 49.29; Mncwabe 535 @ 41.15. When required Butler, Chambers, and Naidoo unleashed spectacular knocks. There were no outright collapses, which is always great. Wrt bowling, I maintain that bowlers' performances should be treated collectively rather than individually. But I still have to note Daly's performances, which have been continued to be exceptional despite his being on the verge of being dropped for seasons. In 12 games his 10-over spells yielded 33 wickets @ 21.33.

T20 had Butler averaging 30.38 and striking at 218.23 but not a whole lot else in the batting. Even then, that was just three (brilliant, match-winning) innings. There were only two other fifties, remarkably. It was a testament to the as-strong-as-ever bowling lineup and the inexplicable proclivity for finding ways to win games that we managed to force our way to top of the table.

That we held firm in the U21 is more due to luck than anything else; consider AXI's gradual decline in CWC9 (which has, btw, concluded, in ultimately worthless Megamegana glory).

The Cup run was brilliant, beating our wonderful R6 run with a QF foray. Hopefully we get a nice draw and have a crack at going one step further (or two, or three).

Season 36 aims:
  • place top 3 in both senior divisions
  • win one senior division
  • remain in DEV 1.1
  • rank second in the world

Congratulations to @JOJOXI for an incredible run through the league stages of CWC9! The future is bright for Winton CC! A good effort to get Charminster CC in 4th as well. TNT are clear 2nd place, while AXW and AXI both make it into the playoffs, with the Pirates edging out Astronauts to round out of the Top 6.

Therefore, I think the KO Stages will be:

Cup Play-Off 1 - Charminster CC (4th) vs ataraXIa (5th)
Cup Play-Off 2 - AtaraX Wellington (3rd) vs Plymouth Pirates (6th)

Cup Semi Final 1 - Winton CC (1st) vs Winner of Cup Play-Off 1
Cup Semi Final 2 - The Net Theorists (2nd) vs Winner of Cup Play-Off 2

Plate Play-Off 1 - KryptoKnights (12th) vs Mooo (13th)
Plate Play-Off 2 - ZCC (10th) vs GG CC (14th)

Plate Semi Final 1 - Ashgrove Astronauts (7th) vs Winner of Plate Play-Off 1
Plate Semi Final 2 - FHK (9th) vs Winner of Plate Play-Off 2

FHK have decided to disband at the end on Season 37, after the conclusion of CWC10.

The decision comes amongst an increasingly tense political environment in the Asian region. The club's best players will be sold off at the end of CWC10, with the club set to stop operations in 2 seasons time.

ZCC will set up a new franchise in it's place. The initial plans were to carry out a simple rebranding of FHK, but the latest executive council meeting has determined that the best way forward would be to severe all ties with the existing franchise. With 2 seasons currently left on it's contract, this means that CWC10 will be FHK's last run at CWC Gold.

The identity and location of the new ZCC franchise is TBD, but the aim is to have it up and running in time for Season 38, and potentially CWC11 as well, depending on the competition timings.

GG CC started their campaign in DIV 3.6 with a match against a bot.

Chose to bat first, Humayun Karim top-scored with an unbeaten 114 off 105 balls laced with 10 fours and 2 big sixes, he was supported well by Dan Maycock (who was playing in only his second match at this level) who smacked an even 50 off 59 balls, and at the back end of the innings, wickeyt-keeper batsman Nathan Clarke effortlessly made 25 off 10 balls to give GG CC the much desired impetus and run-rate over 6.00 as they finished on 252/6 in their allotted 40 overs.

In the defense of 252, all-rounder Graham Glover bagged 3 for 14, while debutant, Jacob Human made quite the impact with the ball as he picked up 3 for 26, opening bowler Sibtain Hassan grabbed 2 for 17, and the other wicket-taker was Joe Talbot (in his 2nd match) picked up his 1st wicket at this level.

On now to set the orders for Mooooo CC
