2023-24 Australian domestic cricket season

Over achievers
Have plenty of Shield records do South Australia. Just not the ones that they would want to have

Meanwhile in todays game, Short is going damn well, where as Rogers (the Victorian one) seemingly is continuing his habit of always seeming to make 30-40 odd and then getting out regardless of conditions or oppisition

Matty short gone after 134. Second hundred in 3 digs since he got back from the Australia squad. Hopefully he can keep this up.

No idea why Queensland continues to pick Guthrie when they have other contracted bowlers

As for Short, can easily make a case for he, Hardie & Turner being in India right now in front of Stoinis
It's not like QLD don't have exciting looking young homegrown quicks, just seem allergic to actually giving any of them a decent oppurtunity.

It should be Turner. As exciting as Short is he's only really shown he can open, and they do not need another opener. Turner is exactly what the ODI team needs, a middle-order/finisher

Bartlett can’t bowl atm & Sully is being load managed

They’re petrified of them getting injured again
Was aware about Bartlett (him being the one younger quick who actually has had fairly consistent game time) but didn't know Sully was under cotton wool, thanks for the update

Yeah I think that's what they were thinking with David's little stint but it didn't work out.

Turner is a finisher without being a hack. Also fields and bowls better than David. Should have trialled him instead.

I don't mind the idea of trying to remake Short into a finisher but it was going to take longer than one series in SA to do it.

Isaac Higgins making a patient half ton in the 2nds game is pleasing to see. Unfortunately the rest of the top order failed, seems like Paris bowled a great spell early on. Unfortunately not too much else this innings for the batting lineup (although Thomas Kelly did ton up in the first dig)

Biggest story out of that game is Corey Wasley of WA making 200 at just below a run a ball.Played for the Aus U19s just recently, didn't really fire in that series though, but on the evidence of here he may be another one off the WA production line

The whole Tim David in the ODI squad is even more annoying when you remember Ashton Turner exists
