Renshaw has definitely improved

Long suspected that his “technical” problem was mental as he must have known about it

Yeah, should be the first cab off the rank to replace warner. The fact that people are totting bancroft over him on shield runs when bancroft didn't cross 50 for aus-a or in county while renshaw dominated in both when he got the chance is insane to me. I'de honestly take whiteman over bancroft given their respective county performances but that's probably a more niche outlook.

Think part of that may be from casuals seeing or at least knowing Renshaw flopped in India and therefore writing him off due to that. Where as these types wouldn't have seen Bancroft bat, but have heard he's been making Shield runs and blindly assume he has fixed his technique even though he really hasn't

I'm not sure I'd describe the group you describe as "casuals".

Ehh. If your writing off renshaw as an opener because he struggled batting middle order on Indian sandpits but advocating Bancroft, who couldn't buy a run in England or vs the dukes in Aus your probably a casual.

How so, was talking about those who get their news from the CA facebook page. Don't have to look hard at the comments section to see a strong pro-Bancroft, anti-Renshaw sentiment there

EDIT: pretty much exactly what nintendo said

Reckon Bancroft lost the selectors when looking ordinary against our man Johnson in a one dayer and followed it up by revealing some of his old weaknesses in the SS final

Unfortunately, the selectors then tossed a coin & decided that Marcus Harris should get a CA contract & Ashes berth for reasons only known to themselves

I kinda hoped the whole Harris obsession would be over when Langer went. Sadly not. Bad news for all of Australian cricket

Bit of vintage Harris catching too a while back today. As inept in the field as he is against any even vaugely competent new ball bowler with the bat

To GAS, anyone who doesn't watch ball-by-ball coverage of state 2nd XI games and closely follow Grade scores from every state is a casual
Was genuinely just going to post about Harry Matthias finising up on 90 not out in the game going on today. Drawn game, despite what the barely functional playcricket app says

Meanwhile Tasmania chased 493 against NSW in the other 2nds game. No, that isn't a typo

Haha my view of casual is very different – the sort who've barely heard of / remember Renshaw and Bancroft.

Some dominant batting performances today but Todd Murphy should be Man of the Match. He's the one that changed the game, going to be a great white ball spinner in years to come

The most aggrivating thing about Australian cricket is those who don't watch anything outside tests in Australia (and even then not that closely) yet still feel like they need to get their two cents in on team selection

And then in this specific case you get people who think Bancroft was somehow "screwed" in the aftermath of Cape Town (he wasn't, as his selection for the 2019 Ashes clearly shows) or just want him in pretty much as a middle finger towards Warner, which is even more dire

EDIT: L&L's above comment well encapsulates the latter sentiment

Interesting finish in the end, this time QLD couldn't get the job done

Not really sure why Bryant felt he needed to try the ramp, swinging hard had been working for him and he went away from that. Then again, I don't exactly get the impression there is too much thought going on in Bryant's batting at the best of times

Could be some batsmen talk themselves into it. Probably think the bowling side has or is working out their method and so try something different to keep them guessing with fatal results.
