Bumrah is clearly better as right of now than Srinath or Zaheer. Bumrah has had great performances in Aus, Eng, WI, SA and at home as well, already.
No he is not because there is plenty of margin for his career to go south. If he retires, his output is not enough to put him ahead of established stalwarts.

especially when you look at where the wins and losses happened
Not just that, it's skewed because for a variety of reasons, bumrah has barely played home tests. If he'd played more at home where India beat everyone, their w/l ratio would probably surpass the Ws very handily.

Kapil was better than Bumrah for a longer period than Bumrah has played as a bowler.

I also think India wins this and pretty handily. They are better at every batting position, at WK and spinners, and the actual track record of the pace bowlers isn't that different

You never actually addressed that Pakistan had a better away record.

Pakistan from the mid 80s till end of millenium won multiple times in England, NZ, and SL. They won in India. They drew against 80s WI and 90s SA. They won the Asia Test Championship in 99. The only place they struggled relatively was Australia.

If you actually think Imran, Wasim, Waqar and Shoaib performing a full capacity is the same as Dev et, al than I don't know what to say.

What's wrong with what I said?

They included Bumrah in the first XI and by right he shouldn't be ahead of Srinath or Zaheer.

So if we are taking his short career performance at face value, then Asif, Fazal and Shaheen would be formidable.

Asif was the best new ball bowler I have ever seen and many here can attest to that. Shaheen is also a very fine new ball bowler whereas Waqar at his peak was not.

Hence my statement was reasonable.
I'm curious to know what narcotics you are on? Peak Waqar ie b4 his back issues was the most devastating fast bowler of all time period.

They included Bumrah in their XI because that is THEIR choice and afaic it's not unreasonable given India's relative meager pace choices. You donot get to dictate who and who cannot be in anyone's XI especially since you didn't even start this thread....

Waqar was never a good new ball bowler. That's one of the reasons why he wasn't as devastating overseas as he was at home.

Plus during more of his prime years he bowled first change.

But yeah subs is ******** and biased.
