Mathews will just be all over the park. The extra runs he will provide over Ratnayeke with bat will be less than the extra he will cost.
Against an ATG opposition though? What's Ratnayake going to do against Bradman, Sachin, Viv, Sobers etc? Also will he really provide runs against an ATG bowling line-up

Gurusinha was a better part-time seamer than Mathews. Jayasuriyas spin could be difficult to get away. These 2 would be the most solid PT options.

I'd include Malinga. He bowled a lot of garbage, but he had had a habit of picking up wickets with both good and bad balls. He could be used as a potential partnership breaker. Either him or Zoysa for his big footmarks.

The trouble is that neither are good enough at batting.

Despite struggling in this test, Asitha Fernando has done really well in his career. The bloke averages 25. I'd pick him as the 2nd seamer.

Attapattu (c)
Karunaratne
Sanga
M Jayawardene
Aravinda DS
Mathews
P Jayawardene (wk) (or perhaps Chandimal/Hashan Tilerakaratne as the tail is weak)
Vaas
Herath
Murali
Asitha Fernando

Jayasuriya for Atapattu sounds very reasonable, and that's without considering bowling and fielding.

Jayasuriya was absolutely terrible against any swing. He couldn't play the likes of Daryl Tuffey and Chris Martin. Imagine him against top class bowlers with a new ball. Atapattu, on the other hand, was genuinely good and fought back from a horror start to his test career

''He couldn't play xyz, imagine him against abc.'' By now we have seen enough to know cricket does not work like this. Jayasuriya averages 40+ in England, the swingiest place.
