According to the media it's the best versus the best ..... or have they given up that line this year? How many players in a Hundred squad? 17-18? They should accommodate a few injuries without drafting new guys in. And I agree that this tournament should be about elite internationals not mediocre international players barely any better than English guys on the circuit who could do with the spotlight.
That IPL money going down, down, down with every game.Dan Freaking Lawrence taking on Spencer Johnson...good going.
The oval wankers have ruined Durham one day campaign and not even picked Clark. How many players in a Hundred squad? 17-18? They should accommodate a few injuries without drafting new guys in. I think that was probably more to do with the fact it was the Spirit's last wicket partnership which really changed the game and Norris was part of that.I'm a bit surprised that Tara Norris (11* off 13 balls & 2-19 off 15) got Player of the Match over Melie Kerr (9 off seven balls and 3-16 from 20) in the women's game.
The hundred was designed to get more casual interest in cricket, right? From the very small bit of data i've seen on that it seems like it's not achieving that goal.I think that was probably more to do with the fact it was the Spirit's last wicket partnership which really changed the game and Norris was part of that.
A thriller in the men's too and an astonishing stop by Whitely to prevent a 6 in the last over.
As much as I hate the idea of The Hundred, the cricket has actually been a really high quality and very entertaining. It's doing what it was designed to do.
Tough to say. I have got the impression that a fair number of folk who appear to be attending the games in London, might not necessarily be the same folk who necessarily attend the blast games from the couple that I have been to. It should be said that the blast games attract a lot more tribal fans of county sides (fairly naturally), but also folk who like a good Friday night out. The Hundred is in the peak summer holiday season so is definitely more accessible to families when the won't necessarily have work/school commitments and can get back home later. Just my tuppence worth. The hundred was designed to get more casual interest in cricket, right? From the very small bit of data i've seen on that it seems like it's not achieving that goal.
I would disagree with that - I think it's definitely bringing in new fans to cricket. I have friends who don't normally attend games who have gone to Hundred matches. There's been some mickey taking on the WhatsApp groups about them fitting the right demographic etc etc. But it's doing wonders for the Women's game, it's putting live cricket on free to air and it's getting a lot of kids to matches in the summer holidays. The hundred was designed to get more casual interest in cricket, right?
