Pitch inspection will be at 12:15. The players are then going to take lunch at 12:20 so we won't have play before 13:00. Love cricket. Instead of just getting on with it now it’s dry we’re gonna wait an hour when it’ll probably be raining again. Nice one.
I mean the ground needs to be dried first, it not raining isn't enough to get play underway.

But yes, some of cricket's regulations been too arachic.

Can someone also explain why they don't have covers for the outfield.

If a concert is on at cricket grounds in England they cover the outfield?

It’s irrelevant in this case as ground won’t be ready for an hour or so in any event
They really need to use the covers they use for concerts to keep the outfield dry in weeks like this.

Waste an hour of time everytime it rains.

Need to get some of the groundsman from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh that cover the whole outfield in on a secondment.

The covers used in co certs (assuming your talking about something like ArmourDeck) takes a crew of 25 approx 6 hours to cover a football pitch, needs underlays of fabric to protect the grass rolled out first, and the takes that same 25 man crew about 7 hours to pick up again.

So I'd respectfully suggest the concert style coverings are not the way.
