Pinch hitters rarely work but Moeen is a former (brief) test top order batsman so this is acceptable in theory. I don't think he's good enough to be batting #3 against Aus though whereas he could have joined the party down the order if Australia forget they need to take 10 wickets not 5 again.

That makes sense, I guess reversing the batting order has kind of gone out as a strategy since covered pitches.
