Yeah you would think it is more the mental side of things that might make him give up rather than physical. Does he have the hunger to keep going to 40 etc...?

So I get to see days 1 and 2 and opening session of day 3 before other half arrives for festival where I live. Given how I am punching so much and she is so fit I will miss the cricket gladly after that.
Think we didn't have much choice with the team selection, Tongue gets nod over Potts for extra pace. Makes you wonder if Wood or Woakes will even be in squad after this match.

About that...
Stokes has said he doesn't think Wood is quite fit enough yet but that he's keen for him to play the third Test, so I reckon he will be. Not sure what's going on with Woakes.

It does make me wonder if it means that we might see two spinners being a thing in a lot more games that aren't just subcontinent (which we won't have for a while now) + Sydney.

Green does make this a live option, but Lyon and Murphy being largely similar does make it still unlikely IMO.
Murphy definitely does - or at least can, when the conditions suit - bowl with a lot more sidespin than Lyon (which is part of the reason I'm so excited about him - he's shown amazing adaptability for a young spinner), but two right-arm offies who can't bat seems like an unlikely selection decision to me unless it's ragging.

Beginning to wonder whether Green is ever going to be the real option with the ball that people expected. Seems to be overlooked due to workload/fitness issues a lot given how young he is.

It's workload management for sure - he has a history of back stress fractures and he had to completely relearn to bowl a few years ago. They've straight up admitted that they've told him not to be bowled on certain days to preserve him for the long term.

According to Cummins he was actually overlooked in the first Test due to expected workload issues for other bowlers later in the series, which seems insane to me.
He got more movement than anyone else when he did bowl too. Just madness.

He’s scanned every week and State/CA dictates where, when and how much he can bowl so no surprise that Green is basically in permanent cotton wool

It's honestly nuts. There was absolutely no cricketing logic behind him only bowling two overs in the second innings when Boland was getting the tap, Hazlewood was visibly tired and Cummins was having a rest. It can only be a hard mandate from team management basically banning him from bowling more than, like, a single short spell a day.
All the raw attributes are there and he moves the ball, he's got the skill, he just doesn't have the consistency to put the ball in the desired spot on demand. But how can he develop that if he never bowls?
Yeah it's a very necessary part of the game now and fair enough, especially in a five-match series (and the Test both sides played before the Ashes). That's why depth of squad is so important, and Australia are very, very well set up with their bowling stocks. Not sure if that's true of England if Josh Tongue is next in.

Add in that they may want him to bowl more in 3rd test but as he has hardly bowled before he then gets a niggle and is ruled out of the match. Seems a ridiculous way of doing things.

Yeah if they said he had a niggle already then fair enough - but the tactic seems to be be 'bowl the specialist bowlers into the ground in the early Tests and then bowl Green into the ground in the later Tests' - what a dumb way to try to take advantage of having five frontline bowlers.

Anderson should be dropped for not having a meme name and Wood should be brought in quickly. Broad Tongue along with Wood will be a ***y combination.
