Chandrasinghe doing a great job for WA making sure Vics get as few points for the first 100 overs as possible

Some wazzock on BigFooty reckons Morris has bowled at least twenty un-called no-balls in only 10.5 overs. Even if that's a bit of an exaggeration it really is an umpiring failure rather than a bowling failure.

He's bowled pretty well but Morris doesn't look like he's in half the rhythm he was before he was drafted into the test squad (or bowling as quick for that matter). It really was a monumental waste of good development time.

Anyone think Chandrasinghe has a negative effect on batting partners? How do you get in to a rhythm as a batsman

Obviously this isn't a Test but I'd still be curious to see records for the least number of runs scored by a player who batted for a full day.

This would be consistent with the rates they were being missed in Australia before the third umpire/semi-automated check was brought in for every ball tbh

The least I could find in a complete day for a test is Boycott 63* (269), on his way 77 (337) at Perth in 1978. Not sure that is the actual answer, it's probably somewhere on Davis's blog. It's actually not a very easy question though.

Chandrasinghe is batting even slower than Boycott (17.29 against 22.85).

Does he need to be crazy fast when we have guys like johnson and morris running around and sutherland is 6'5 and regularly takes wickets bowling first change? If he can operate in the mid 130's from his height he'll be fine.
You wouldn't think so. Sutherland has delivered in fc cricket and at Melbourne too. Then Morris comes along and because pace is ***y gets the ticket into the test squad.

Sutherland was a PONI from from the moment he was about eight years old. The suggestion that he's being held back because his 'face doesn't fit' is hilarious to me. That said - he's definitely always been better than Steketee IMO.

I can't say I really rated Sutherland when he first came on the scene, although admittedly that was probably coloured by my low opinion of his old man at that stage

But what he's done in Shield cricket over the last 2-3 years, he has definitely made more than a strong case to be considered for higher honours. Don't have the numbers on me but I would think he would have to be likely the leading quick in that 25 and under age bracket. 100% should be there or there abouts, at least in the medium term

I mean, even by just watching he’s clearly in the top 2 under 25s (with Jhye being first). That’s it Jhye is even that young anymore? Also he’s super injury prone

Jhye's a bit older now. I agree that he is the most likely looking of the youngish domestic quicks, but as you say injuries are definitely a major cause for concern

Order imo goes something like this

Sutherland
Morris (still has a little bit of a way to go IMO, extra pace definitely counts in his favour though
Bartlett (wouldn't mind seeing him taking the new rock for QLD, maybe a little sharper than the Vic quicks but not by much)
Perry (bounced back well after a poor start to the season, still should be behind Sutherland, similar pace too)
Buckingham (bit of a left field one here, a ways off the names ahead of him, but watching him for South Australia there is a bit to work with there)
McClure (the most raw of the young Vic bowlers, still got plenty to learn but has shown glimpses here and there)
O'Neill (on performances there is a strong argument he should be higher, his lack of pace however concerns me)
Neil-Smith (not close at this point, was good to see him back in the Tasmanian team though, will probably have more of a role to play for them going forward with Siddle likely gone and Bird winding down)

Couple of other names that come to mind, but I restricted this to just those who have played Shield this season. Probably someone I'm forgetting though
