You do realize Khawaja & Smith both played the kind of shots which you only play when you're in pursuit of 35, right? But SA's bowling is not their issue. The problem is their batting, which is lamentable tstl.
I know the batting is a concern but it takes one good innings from the top 3 to lift the side. And we have the talent who can do it on these Australian pitches. We are not Pakistan or West Indies who can easily panic.

We saw that in England, how you played under pressure.

Whatever it takes!!!
The Mumbai pitch was probably the spin version of what we got in Brisbane this week, though Clarke taking 6/9 was genuinely insane.

did give us the greatest catch in cricket history though.
They had rains that flooded the city that year though, just a lil while before the test, IIRC. So it was underprepared but not by choice.

We won a Test and we're competitive. Only in the last Test we screwed it up and only because it was turned into a 3 day game and we had to catch a flight back home.
And Btw, this England team is currently the best in the world. Let's see if u Aussies are capable of winning a Test or even competing with them.

@TheGreatest pitch preparation requires a level of local knowledge that you simply cannot outsource to someone from somewhere else. So, your suggestion is not very practical.

I do agree ICC can, and does, take over pitch preparation for ICC tournaments, but short of having a Test world cup, they can't really interfere in bilaterals other than have their match referee give those ratings out post game.

I have a question... who will prepare the pitch for the WTC final if the finalist is a home team? Suppose this happens in the coming years.

Generally, even for ICC events, which is what the WTC final will be, it will be the local curators who prepare the pitch but under ICC supervision. This does not apply to bilaterals, of course.

I would like to see ICC get involved in bilateral series as well. Just my opinion.
