Still plenty of cricket left. I think it's still 50/50. If Root stays not out and takes England to victory his reputation will be enhanced as a legend even further. Top knock so far but he does get out in 70s/80s so hoping for the best for us. If we take Root early we'll very well win.

Why must everything be a thriller? Leave me alone lol

I guess after the first morning NZ have fought well to even still be in with a sniff but supporting these guys, the hurricanes and the warriors is stressful.
Surely spending sleepless nights and watching demands close games? Would like to see some runs from our top order but then it's good to see Blundell and Mitchell get among runs.

The first test was always going to be a bit iffy for us. By the next test expect us to be firing all cylinders.

Shame CDG is going to be out of the series. Nicholls will slot in but we lose the 5th bowler. They should ideally be bowling Mitchell lots more. His confidence is high and maybe he can do CDG's job.

I do wish Kane shows some confidence in Ajaz and bowls him a lot more. Stokes was much braver as a captain bowling the overs Parkinson deserved.

Not a bad idea to bowl few overs from Ajaz at one end. England may take a chance and Root will always play positively vs spin. Kane needs to take a punt sometimes and not be too methodical like he usually is.

I think the nasser idea of sending Broad in next and hope he trolls a twenty that may win the match is how I'd go, obviously depends how close these two get.
If Root is the one out then this is definitely worth doing. If he is still there then I would just want the guy who is most likely to stay in with him.

Went to bed at 40/2 quietly hoping the game would be wrapped up by morning. Well done to Stokes and Root, knew they'd have to be the ones to do it, but saying it is one thing, actually doing it is quite another. Especially brilliant from Stokes knocking Ajaz out of the attack. It's all well and good to say that Kane should trust him more but when you've only got a medium sized target to defend it's hard to keep a guy going when he's been carted over midwicket for fun. Having said that Kane I feel could've tried him again for a couple of overs after Stokes' dismissal, Root wouldn't have risked the same bombing tactics and he would've had a bit more of a chance to find his feet. Poor Colin, he must be feeling so sick. A mindless run-out that probably cost his team a 300 run lead and now gone from the series.

Can't say it's over just yet, but I don't think 60 is enough. England have scored too quickly for the second new ball to have much of an impact. NZ could've done with a rainy day to help the bowlers freshen up and keep England on tenterhooks but the forecast is for the weather to be pretty dry after 6am. Expect England to do it by 4 wickets.

Surely Root brings it home from here. What an epic collapse from NZ in the end, over overseas demons always seem to get the best of us in the end.

Familiar 3rd innings choke by a blackcaps team on a tour of England, story of last 20 years. Except, the 3rd innings was also their best innings ... hmm

New Zealand at least need England chasing 35 runs by the time they take 2nd new ball so control is important also

Who is the English player most capable of CDGing this up for England by doing something dumb leading to a collapse?

It's gotta be Broad.
