Yeah, I went to bed when it was about 60/4 and was surprised to wake up to that score (breaking the pattern of waking up to good news). Williamson and co must have had a sense of deja vu seeing Stokes turning the tide against them at Lord's again ?Went to bed at 40/2 quietly hoping the game would be wrapped up by morning. Well done to Stokes and Root, knew they'd have to be the ones to do it, but saying it is one thing, actually doing it is quite another. Especially brilliant from Stokes knocking Ajaz out of the attack. It's all well and good to say that Kane should trust him more but when you've only got a medium sized target to defend it's hard to keep a guy going when he's been carted over midwicket for fun. Having said that Kane I feel could've tried him again for a couple of overs after Stokes' dismissal, Root wouldn't have risked the same bombing tactics and he would've had a bit more of a chance to find his feet. Poor Colin, he must be feeling so sick. A mindless run-out that probably cost his team a 300 run lead and now gone from the series.
Can't say it's over just yet, but I don't think 60 is enough. England have scored too quickly for the second new ball to have much of an impact. NZ could've done with a rainy day to help the bowlers freshen up and keep England on tenterhooks but the forecast is for the weather to be pretty dry after 6am. Expect England to do it by 4 wickets.
Still, NZ lost their last 6 for not many so it still seems finely balanced with England's longish tail.
