Really when was this ?

My best friend Captain Hindsight never lost a game in 30 years, absolute pro
he only faced 28 balls, but somewhere towards the end, he tried to take a crazy single.
its not really about hindsight, just straight out team tactics for the days play.

On my broadcat I watched today there wasnt remotely a close run out chance, thats why I am puzzled here

Very enjoyable and professional display there to get the win. I mentioned this at the end of Day 1's play, this is the easiest and calmest I have felt watching us play a SENA test. Long may it continue.

I get that the popular narrative is now shifting to dropping Pujara but my view has always been the one who has been mediocre the longest goes first and unfortunately in this side, that is Rahane. That said, he looked the best batsman from both sides during the time I did watch him bat this test. Totally unruffled and in command, and looked like he could hit a boundary any time he wanted. So I dont think there will be any changes unless there are any injury concerns.

And Siraj definitely should be both fined and slapped with a demerit point. That was just so uncalled for and stupid and just plain wrong.

RSA are gonna hit us with a green mamba at Jo'burg and bring in Olivier for Maharaj. I am not too sure that is the best thing to do but it would be fun to watch us play there. I would still play Ashwin though. I never see why you would need 5 proper seamers on any track. Although I guess with their part timers being Elgar and Markram, it means they will have a decent enough backup spin option.
its tough when a long serving great batman comes to the end.
but surely isn't SHREYAS IYER now miles better than PUJARA?
NZ have had the same problems with ROSS TAYLOR, although in their case they have less batsman to call upon.
anyway Ross retired yesterday, so problem solved, although he'll still play the home tests this summer.

it wasn't a chance, it was his intent in trying to take a single that just wasn't on the radar, and almost caused confusion, but no damage.
it was like he was in 20/20 mode, even more so in some of his stroke play.

South African team looks like has decent potential & might not take too long to rebuild. Still think they are in a better position than England as of now.
They tour NZ next up & will be battle hardened for sure after this series. They haven't lost in NZ since forever & I expect a thrilling series over there with some exciting bowling attacks.

Unless they start having night/ early morning test matches in NZ the time difference is so brutal to follow live for us in SA. So end up just watching highlights and hope for the best

having radio commentary in bed can be good, can also peacefully put you to sleep.

Not at all. I think their current crop of batters are really talented. They also went for the win and things would have been a lot different had Elgar continued for just a little bit longer. The pacers not turning up on first half of Day 1 cost them the game.
Yeah I wasn't impressed with Rabada and Ngidi much despite them coming away with great figures.

A single that wasn't on the radar that they ended up making comfortably?

Yeah, same. It feels really churlish to complain but I really felt they weren't bowling particularly well by their standards, just occasionally bowling really good balls that took wickets (with a healthy serving of gifts too). They'll certainly bowl better than that for worse figures IMO.

Though maybe, between the Aus and Indian attacks, we're just being a bit spoiled for quality fast bowling as viewers atm.

I agree. RSA is my “second team” so I always root for them to do well (other than against India) and I am actually quite impressed / excited by the talent pool. The selectors just need to play them.
This wasn’t a surrender, India had to bowl very well to win

I mean the pandemic has obviously messed up a ton of schedules. Only England is playing anything like a normal schedule, Aus is going to end this year having played, what, five games? And three last year?

It's saying something that we keep clocking wins despite a crocked middle order. Lucky to have at least one opener making decent contributions on the regular and useful runs from Pant on downwards. The flip side to that equation is that a total collapse is never off the charts and that should keep SA interested. Winning two on the bounce might be too much for a side this green against an Indian team that now knows how to win abroad and likes it, but a 1-2 result would be entirely respectable and something to build on.
