*Unofficial* New Zealand Black Caps Thread

Whatever it takes!!!
This thread title should be changed to "Unofficial - Inaugural World Test Champions Thread."

Mods should get it done.
And rename the Windies thread the "Unofficial - Inaugural World Cup Champions Thread"

And rename the India thread the "Unofficial - Inaugural World T20 Champions Thread"

We need cricket to embrace the concept of the treble, or grand slam. You've already won the Test Championship and the ODI World Cup, according to anyone who has any sort of compass for fairness and justice. The T20 World Cup stands as the final leg.

I actually favour the term "Triple Crown Champion", a la pro wrestling.

The Saffer thread should be called "Unofficial - Inaugural Hong Kong Sixes Champion" obviously.

IDK, might be my memory, but has he done anything with the bat of late tho (that late slog vs WI aside)? Across the formats. Fair enough re: bowling though, esp in T20, he's been pretty economical at least.
I mean....you don't leave out probably your best bowler (in turning conditions at least) because there's a risk the selectors might bat him too high, do you?

I just heard that Chris Cairns is on life support and not responding to treatment after suffering an aortic dissection. Which is… a pretty lethal event. A few years ago a 36 year-old colleague complained of a sore back and asked to go home. He suffered an aortic dissection and died within the hour. I know Cairns has a mixed legacy, but lots of love to this family and I hope he pulls through.

Obviously the people that matter have beef with Munro (which is exactly what I've heard FWIW)

What's up with Taylor not even being in the ODIs? Poor guy has played what, 1 international in his best format in the last 18 months?
Yeah quite damning if he doesn't figure anywhere in a set of 25 or so players named across those tours. No idea what the back story is, but feels like borderline arrogance to just draw a line under his name.

EDIT: Just read that he made himself available only for the World Cup, so understandable I suppose. Would still have found room for him.

Reasonable explanation for Taylor not figuring in the ODI setup but man that lineup looks ripe for the picking against Pakistan, could do with his class and experience there.

Fair on leaving Ross out for just the ODIs, since he's not in the mix for T20s anyway, an overseas tour in the bubble for just a few JAMODIs rn I understand leaving him out.

Also re: Munro, I'd say fair call. Phillips/Allen and others show up for all the other series and just directly picking Munro only for WT20 seems kinda meh. Surely you'd expect him to tour with the team if he's indeed interested in playing? Especially since it's been a while now.

I really think Allen should be in the squad though, weird that he's picked for both tours but not the WC squad.

Interesting to see Munro not only missed out, but didn't even get a mention in the article about those players to miss out
