*Unofficial* New Zealand Black Caps Thread

Obviously the people that matter have beef with Munro (which is exactly what I've heard FWIW)

What's up with Taylor not even being in the ODIs? Poor guy has played what, 1 international in his best format in the last 18 months?

The New Zealand Cricket statement said Ross Taylor was originally scheduled to be included for the ODI leg of the Pakistan series. But with quarantine protocols and the fact it will be a three-match series, they decided to rest Taylor keeping the upcoming home summer and New Zealand's red-ball tour of India in mind.

I guess it makes perfect sense in theory to not go through all that for a JAMODI series, but then Taylor is our JAMODI GOAT and has been horribly starved of them lately

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
I find it strange the world t20 squad has already been named - or is it because of COVID and travel stuff?

just seems weird any hopefuls who will play in Bangladesh or Pakistan will just be flat out ignored

I wasn't too far from naming the NZC squad, good to know 8-)

I didn't account for Tom Latham, Matt Henry and Tickener. So these are 15 men squad for each tour. Guessing they will go straight from Bangladesh to Pakistan. Fair to give the T20 WC squad players a run in Pakistan. Would have rather taken Ravindra over Astle for the T20 wc. I suppose that would have been too much for a young kid traveling from Bangladesh to Pakistan to UAE and to India (I'm pretty sure he will be picked for the test squad in India). No surprises as for t20 wc squad is concerned.

Will certainly miss watching Conway play.

Surely the B team will get flogged in these warm ups? Is that good prep?

Then again, I said the same about warming up for the WTC final by playing our B team in the second test against England, so what do I know.

Left with no choice I guess with so little time between the series' We may get flogged but hoping the younger ones get a go and not carry drinks for bunch of 30 year olds. Can't wait to watch Sears play.

That is quite some complicated logisitics. A lot to juggle.

In all that have you guys notice CdG is isn't in the T20 WC squad?

Surprised Finn Allen has been left out of the world t20 squad. Hope Guptill delivers.
I'm not - he hasn't played in that part of the world and the selectors haven't seen enough of him on turning decks to suggest he'd offer anything.

I'd actually have considered Latham, given how good he can be at collecting/turning the strike over and generally playing spin. But I guess it's hard to justify when he hasn't been playing in that format.

CdG probably isn't unlucky, but having said that Neesham probably is.

Neesham is there.

I think the Latham role is already covered by Williamson and Conway.

For those of you who like squads in orders other than alphabetical.

Like the look of the squads but surely they will rotate the players. Hoping Sears gets to play in few games. Traditionally Black Caps won't debut a newbie overseas, they take them on tours not play them for the first couple of times and then they do. I'd like a left/right combination at the top, maybe Latham/Allen or Ravindra/Allen would make a good combination.

Really should've gotten Rachin enough games to replace Santa. Not at all happy re: Santa being the "allrounder", hope he proves me wrong here.

Otherwise everything looks as expected. Milne won't get any internationals before the WC I presume? Really like the look of him in the domestix so far, hundred and all.

Madness. Santa is easily one of our best limited overs players

IDK, might be my memory, but has he done anything with the bat of late tho (that late slog vs WI aside)? Across the formats. Fair enough re: bowling though, esp in T20, he's been pretty economical at least.

Of course they will rotate them.

I'm just organising them in 11s (plus extras ) for my own reading so that I can digest it. And sharing it for other's reading pleasure, seeing as I've already made the effort to re-organise them.
