Nice, so after The Hundred and before IPL so I assume we will have a decent squad.
There's no way nzc is going to ask players coming back from hundred, county or going to IPL to go to Bangladesh/Pakistan. I think on the contrary we'll not see most of our top players. Time to give our second rung players a go.

I'm sure Allen, Ravindra, Sears, Smith, Duffy, Rippon, both Bracewells and co will be the ones going. Maybe Guptill, Munro and some of our red ball specialists like Latham, Blundell may go.

How are the kiwis going in the Hundred?
I've only been half following but from what I've seen Milne has probably been the best quick in the competition.

Other than that Neesham has been a bit inconsistent but had a couple of top performances with bat and ball. Conway scored decent runs but not a great strike rate. Allen has scored middling runs but at a good strike rate.

Nah, they might rest KW and one or two others, but most will be going. This is pretty ideal prep for the T20 WC, NZC will want to take advantage of it.

I can't get how anyone from UK will make into the country, go through miq, travel with the team to Bangladesh and play from the 1st Sept? Not happening. Safe to say Kane, Devon, Jimmy, Finn, Adam Milne, CDG etc won't be going to Bangladesh.

Even the guys that have to go to IPL no way they can go on the Bangladesh tour. If they do then they have to go to Bangladesh, then to pakistan, then to uae for IPL, then the T20 wc. No chance nzc is going to send the same bunch so many miq s , not conducive for the players. Time will tell.

Why would they come back to nz before going to these?

They may all go, some or none. But I doubt any return to nz before the WT20 (and IPL)

I think only Kane, among them, has young kids and a pressing reason to maybe come home for a bit (with the miq),

I'd say most will go for at least part of tour, for the simple reason of having something to do and making the most of their time before returning through MIQ etc.

Hopefully you send a **** team so we can get more of a foothold on the higher reaches of the ODI Superleague. Absolutely no desire to see us try and qualify on a pace-friendly Zimbabwean track

So, on the logistics and selection of the NZ teams for the 2 sub-continent tours before the WT20 in UAE.

Have:
  • Hundred up until 21 August, 1 week gap
  • NZ tour to Bangladesh, 1 week gap
  • NZ tour to Pakistan and the IPL
  • 3 week gap for the non IPL players, 1 week gap for IPL players
  • ICC WT20

Here is what I predict a standard 15 man squad for the WT20 would look like. (but it may be bigger this time, with covid)

Highlighted yellow, are the players with IPL contracts who definitely miss the Pakistan segment. Green are players already in England for The Hundred.
With what I think are likely squad cover who should replace those who miss due to IPL.

The Bangladesh rolled puddings part, Ravindra would likely be quite useful. Seems you need some proper batsmen to aim for run a ball totals rather than 8 an over.
I think Sears would get slaughtered in these conditions, but maybe tour anyway for the Pakistan segment (of which I know nothing about TBH), or if bigger squad.

Rippon may or may not be available. Looks like his availability has been reset to commencing late 2021 (see: https://www.odt.co.nz/sport/cricket/rippon’s-‘rollercoaster’-ends-ineligibility).

I haven't put Lennox in any of above scenarios, but he could be a good pick. His lack of batting hinders his chances.

Slight complications with above with both Conway and Jamieson having picked up muscular injuries and out of Hundred.

Milne's kicking that slightly ajar selectorial door open. Bowled beautifully in 2 of the Hundred games I watched. His slower knuckle ball is coming out much better now than when he attempted it in the BBL.

Nicely done... let me give a wild guess, could be 100% wrong or very close. One of the two. I strongly believe NZC will tell their players to return to the country and not worry about touring Bangladesh/Pakistan if they are involved in county or hundred right now. You can see the number of players taking a break from cricket due to MIQs of late, NZC are a bit smarter they won't stretch our players. Majority of the squad are over 30 and have young families.

We'll see full strength squad for T20 WC so won't worry about that. For Bangladesh/Pakistan leg

Batters: Guptill, Allen, Young

WKs: Blundell, Seifert

Fast bowling All rounders: D Bracewell, Darryl Mitchell

Spin bowling all rounders: Ravindra, McConchie, Chapman

Bolwers: Duffy, Bennett, Sears

Specialist spinners: Astle, Patel (why not... he played vs Pakistan in UAE couple of years or three ago and did all right)

That's the fifteen I'd like to see. If they are taking 20 then add in

Nathan Smith, M Bracewell, Rutherford, Sommerville, Worker

Really looking forward to seeing Rachin play. BD series would be close to ideal to debut IMO, idk if it's gonna be the same shitty low-slow tracks.

Also re squad, +1 on nzfan (including Chapman), and I presume Phillips is available? And I presume we've moved on from Munro now for the WC

Guptill continued to struggle aftr our season ended and nobody was watching. In the PSL, played in same place WT20 will be. I'd not discard Munro, I'd be having him and Guptill in both tours and picking one of them to open WT20.
