Cricketer Of The Year
Fair point. Rachin is another example. Should never have been playing T20 and got originally drafted off the back of mainly batting 7 and bowling the odd over in T20Is.

Kyle Jamieson was another example, potentially, although at least he'd exhibited beast mode for a season...but not in that format. Then flopped when given his big pay day

I freely admit I am not rational when it comes to this competition. I used to love it back in the early days when I thought it could extend careers, but now I abhor it. Guys like JFM, Allen trot the world with similar sized egos to guys who made 10,000 Test runs across a decade or more. The cricketing version of Hawk Tuah.
Jamieson had a good super smash record and some batting aside from the red ball stuff, no?swear he took a 6fer or something in the SS.

Jamieson had one really good season in the Super Smash in 2018/19 (that was the year he took 6/7 v Auckland) when he finished top wicket taker. That season aside, he didn't play much T20 and when he did he tended to get modest returns (the season that he got picked up by RCB, he took 5 wickets in 5 games at an ER of about 8). I don't think an IPL team picking him up was that big a surprise given how good he was looking at the time, but forking out $1.8 million or whatever it was was gonzo.
