Fear of losing first test in a three match series doesn't match up to the fear of losing the only test in the series of this magnitude. Your skill, patience, determination etc are at its utmost test in a one off game. I see no reason to change it.

A fear of not being able to win over a series is more than a fear of not being able to win an one off game too though. Its all swings and rounabouts. I see no reason to change it coz I really dont think the ICC can. But its incredibly biased to write off a valid thought as a whinge.

For all his faults, he is very consistent and outspoken about what his thoughts are and they have been the same whether he wins or losses.

Obvious troll attempt aside, I dont have a problem with a single game final mainly coz I really do not think ICC can set aside a month for this every two years.. But a final series can be just as clutch as a final game and a championship played as a series till that point can totally have a final series. I can see none of the posters jumping here saying a thing had it been KW saying the same thing, there is no alternate universe where that possibility exists.

It was such a high quality game that I don't really mind the idea of getting more of them, but it definitely would have taken some of the sting out of the game itself.

In this particular scenario, I think both sides would have gone defensive and given up to the draw and we also may not have had the reserve day.

Ideally, we schedule future final games with 5 full reserve days, or a back up plan to move venues based on weather forecasts etc. We dunno how long quarantine and covid rules will be in place, but as long as travel within the country is doable without quarantine, these should be considered.

Lol... critical.. try "needlessly combative". I was just pointing out it did make it to the ICC videos as it deserved to.

Leg byes are amazing in that it is one part of cricket that is considered no one's fault. lol. But in this game, almost all leg byes were due to Indian seamers needlessly bowling at the legs of the batsmen, so I would rather blame them.

I am very happy for the NZ win and not taking anything away from the win. But singling Kohli and Jadeja out as not clutch based on this is stupid. NZ had so many factors favoring them going into the final and were rightly favorites. The way India fought till the end against all these factors shows how good a team they are.

There would have been no way NZ would have won over India if the match had happened anywhere in the subcontinent. Kane would have suddenly not become not clutch if that happened.

So, let us just call what it is. NZ are the deserved world champions now but there is nothing such as clutch factor here.
