For all the mocking that cnerd received, a 3 match final is actually quite hard to organise imo.

You have to block out a month of international cricket for the potential finalists.

If a team goes 2-0 up it would be pretty lame to have a third game too, and at that point cancelling would mean money lost.

To be fair, the ODI and T20 WC leagues are not played as series whereas this one is. So its not dumb at all. And he did say that it is for future consideration. I honestly dont think it is a whinge, even.

True, 1 match final is fine by me too. Just have to ensure there are 5 reserve days or move it out of ****ing England. :p

The rest of the WTC was basically like a group stage. And this is the final. Its completely fine. The "group stage" is what needs tweaking, not the final.

I wont mind a 3 test series final and I do think it will be the fairest given games are played as series going in as well.

That said, I agree with Daemon with respect to the scheduling. They would have found a window of a month for 3 tests if they could. The fact is its very tough to just carve out one month and not have the others schedule anything etc. So I am fine with the 1 off final too. Just add 5 reserve days and ensure we get a full test and be bloody flexible with planning around weather. Have a back up venue with plans to move people over if needed etc.

I think his whinge just comes down to wanting more time for his team to acclimatize and settle in, which is entirely the fault of the BCCI's scheduling around the Final and not the concept of a Final itself.

Not at all... I can totally see why a tournament played series by series can be reasonably expected to have a final series as well.

And nobody else bothered to replicate it.

Fear of losing first test in a three match series doesn't match up to the fear of losing the only test in the series of this magnitude. Your skill, patience, determination etc are at its utmost test in a one off game. I see no reason to change it.
