Lol these ****s. NZ’s greatest batting duo by miles. Just think how many runs they would’ve mad together if they didn’t keep running each other out.
Big Daddy and the Boss Partnership - By the Numbers

Most runs for NZ in Tests - 3875 (next highest is Kane and Latham @ 2373)
Most 100+ Partnerships for NZ in Tests - 10 (next highest is Kane and Latham @ 8)
Most 50+Partnerships for NZ in Tests - 29 (next highest is Kane and Latham @ 19)
3rd Highest Batting Average for NZ in Tests @ 59.61 (min 20 partnerships, behind Crowe/Jones @ 61.33 and Taylor/Watling 60.50)
13th Most Runs in Tests of all time
9th= Most 50+ Partnerships of all time
9th Highest Average per dismissal of all time (min 50 partnerships)
3rd Highest ODI Average per dismissal of all time (min 50 partnerships)

Just so ****ing good.

ATG NZ XI

Latham (possible)
Williamson (2nd name on the sheet)
Taylor (certain)
Watling (highly likely)
Wagner/Southee/Boult (at least two make it)

And FMD I wouldn't at all be surprised if Conway and Jamieson enter that conversation before they're done. Nicholls may even scratch an outside argument like Latham. Easily the best team we've ever had.

I turned off the TV last night after the Pant drop. Was sure I was going to wake up to a draw in the morning. Then when I opened my eyes and saw a text from a friend of mine who follows the game, I knew it was either a win or a heartbreaking loss. Had sweaty palms watching the highlights this morning but seemed like a fairly comfortable win in the end. So thrilled for this bunch, they’ve desperately deserved a trophy after all they’ve done over the past decade and now they’ve got it. Now hopefully Trent and KW can finally let go of the pain from 2019. I know I can. I cried after that super over. Were tears of a different sort seeing the guys jumping up and down in celebration on the balcony.

A first series win in England in 22 years and now World Champions. Not a bad 3 weeks work. Full credit to the coaching and support staff who’ve done a magnificent job of getting the boys into top shape over the past month. Left no stones unturned.

To India, well played. They’re a much improved side from the team NZ beat 18 months ago, even if the scoreline suggests a similar sort of game to the last between these two. Had the cloud cover not stopped play on day 2 they may well have put up 300 in the first innings, which would’ve been match winning. Kohli’s shown his qualities as a leader in this match. I’ve watched him and Kane butt heads since the two of them were high schoolers, such a lovely moment to see the two of them embracing on the world stage at the end of such a hard fought contest.

Finally, to everyone in the thread, thanks for creating such a funny, supportive and engaging community to talk about this match and this sport. We have our disagreements (no Athlai, Southee still shouldn’t play in the ODI side ahead of Henry) but we always have fun andI don’t know if I would’ve stuck around for the journey from easy beats to world champs without you guys.

Now let’s all get drunk!

I can't believe we got a genuine spell of Wagner in this Test. Really lifts it to legendary status. A passage of play when there wasn't swing or demons in the pitch and a barrage of short balls pryed one out. Stoked for Wags, couldn't have done it without him

That was probably the most animated I've ever seen Nicholls about anything.
I absolutely loved the passion there from Nicholls, he really isn't a boring tuk tuk dullard after all! Thoroughly enjoyed every second of it ?? We need to see more of that tbh, what a breath of fresh air. Its why we all love jamieson and wagner so much, that passion.

Whatever it takes!!!
As an Indian fan, as disappointing as the performance yesterday was, I was also glad to see how bad Jadeja felt after he got out etc. It's one thing for people like Ash and Pujara and Rahane to take this seriously but when u see the T20 Rockstars take Tests so seriously, it just warms the heart even if we lost.

And let's face it, u can't feel too bad about losing to this NZ team. They are possibly the most likeable world champs around. Go BC. ?

Same. I woke at 6.30 and saw the result and nearly fell out of bed.

Still processing. As a lifelong Blackcaps fan (despite being born and raised in Australia during their most dominant period in cricket history), this is special beyond words.
