One of those blokes had a fantastic late '90s or early 2000s Auckland Aces shirt earlier in the day. Outstanding.

There was a couple of passengers in there for NZ.....what are we supposed to do, not call it like it is? Hats off to the blokes who stood up on this overseas tour. It's one thing to get big scores on flat decks at home, it's another thing entirely to do it away from home. The lower middle order was decidedly flakey but thanks to Ross and Kane the soft underbelly didn't get exposed.

The addition of Conway and Jamieson to the side has elevated this team to another level. There's more confidence and stell now, and just more world class players. These two have star power.

When thinking about 'best ever' teams, the difference between the current outfit and the 80's mob is that in the 80's there were not a production line of plucky southern African journeymen and opportunists infusing the team with a healthy dose of Saffer steel. In the current team you have the enthusiasm and never say day attitude of Wagner, and the calmness and ice-in-the-veins run machine that is Devon Conway. The hard-nosed attitude of these two is something over and above the wickets they take and the runs they score. (The Zimbabwean Billy Ray Cyrus is also there as well). It's not only in the playing group that NZ cricket has benefitted, the coaching ranks have as well.

Spot the bloke at the back in the middle that isn't going to be able to lie down on his back for a week.
he must have just flown in, because it's not possible to get sun burnt in England. Even more so given the past week's weather.

Great few weeks for NZ - dicking England away then backing it up with this win is just great stuff. Fair play to them

I'm here still but was catching up on much needed sleep. Didn't have the emotional or physical energy for reactions right after.

Now the good thing is no one can say I hype our boys too much. All along said we'll win this but was told to shut up and not jinx it  In a nice way of course.

What can I say? Hard to put it in words how I feel about this. Silence is the best way to express gratitude I guess. Two champions of NZ Cricket finishing it on the last day. Was there a better script to be written ever? This is going to be the class of 2021. Ever itched in every NZ cricket follower's memory. The finish from the two legends, script written by gods.

Hard luck India but we wanted it more. That's the difference. We didn't say it but we were desperate.

Hopefully there might be a Halbergs gong or two heading the team's way now. I know the Olympics tend to dominate whenever it's an Olympic year, but still.
