In case India gets out in 45 overs tomorrow with a lead of around 180, will NZ go for the chase in 50 overs ? And can they be bowled out within 50 overs ? ?

I don't think so and also don't think the Indians will be to aggressive tomorrow.

I don't see how India win this really,,,best case scenario they have a 200 lead and then maybe give NZ 40 or so overs to chase ?

NZ could have a little dash while also having an eye on blocking it out.

If their was 2 instead of 1 more day left then yeah its very easy to see how India win, but I just don't see how they force a win unless we get a comical collapse from NZ.

Chasing will be so tough. You could easily get bowled out with a lead of like 150 and have a chance of skittling them in time.

NZ hurt themselves by not being more proactive in the morning session. I know batting was tough, but KW in particular was in pretty awful knick, repeatedly missing balls sliding down the leg side and failing to punish the rare bad balls. Fair play to him for sticking around long enough to partially rectify the situation though.

So far this match is pretty similar to the last game between the two - India get off to a good start, Jamieson and co pick up a couple, India stage a middle order recovery, then Jamieson comes back and the tail folds, NZ also get a strong start, big middle-order collapse before the lower-order rescues the situation. The match roughly on parity going into the third innings. Now just need a complete India collapse tomorrow morning and an easy stroll to a 100ish target to round out the match.

Mate, I know we harp on about Clouderson but this pitch is also doing things and the duke moves in the air even when it isn't overcast.

India probably need to bat 40-50 overs to insure they don't lose.

That's essentially it - batting is tough. India are a high-quality outfit, giving nothing away on a tricky pitch. And Kane is not looking in any sort of nick. So it's OK to say we needed to be more proactive, but that's one thing said and one thing done. If Kane goes early, we're probably out for 140. Then we're 70 behind, and we can't win (unless India gets really generous). Then the knives are out because we've gifted wickets.

As it stands, at least we have a chance of victory. It's not high, but it's there. I have absolutely no criticism of the way we went about it. With the shizen weather and the way the pitch is so hard to score runs on and the fact you're never in, I think we actually did very well to get in the situation we are. We've caught well, our top 3 did an outstanding job in tough conditions, our bowlers were good.
