India only 80 ahead and they have a weak tail. subcontinental sides are also not renowned for ruthlessness when in ascendancy. Oz not out of this.the performance here actually reminds me a lot of the fifth test of the ashes. in the light of that i wonder if the team got a little high on its own supply after 36ao.
I'll remind you that Ravichandran "I could bat at 3 for India in Tests" Ashwin is still to come.India only 80 ahead and they have a weak tail. subcontinental sides are also not renowned for ruthlessness when in ascendancy. Oz not out of this.
oh no not at all. but i just mean in terms of a general looseness about the cricket with bat and in the field.India only 80 ahead and they have a weak tail. subcontinental sides are also not renowned for ruthlessness when in ascendancy. Oz not -out of this.
Jaddu is a #ProperAllrounder now.Seriously impressed with how unflappable Jadeja's been. Not a single play and miss as far as I can tell. Superb judgement all around.
I don't know about top 6 but his record more than justifies a permanent place at #7Jaddu is a #ProperAllrounder now.
I've always rated his batting higher than most here. PEWS describes his evolution well. He's had to develop this way because when he first broke into the Indian team straight out of the U19s he was shoehorned in as a lower order limited overs finisher, something he was completely unsuited to at the time. However I've always felt he had what it takes to play in the Top 6 at international level. He's got that batting nous that Spark likes talks about and clearly sees the ball well. He's now built a functional batting game around that.
It's one of those 'if my aunt had balls' kind of scenarios. Coming through the U19s and domestic stuff Jadeja showed the raw talent necessary to be a proper good Test batter, but also a proper good Test spinner. Was regularly batting top 6 whenever he played. The first time he had a run batting lower than 6 was when broke into the senior Indian team IIRC.I don't know about top 6 but his record more than justifies a permanent place at #7
You just want to be really aware that there's a qualitative difference between "really good lower order batsman" and "actual top six batsman". There's a specific skillset for lower order batsman that doesn't guarantee you'll do well in the top six, which has broader needs beyond just having a decent-looking average. It's one of those 'if my aunt had balls' kind of scenarios. Yes and Jadeja did not have that lower order skillset when he first debuted for India. He was being groomed as a middle order batsman, but upon breaking into the Indian team was forced into the lower order role, where he struggled, especially in limited overs cricket. You just want to be really aware that there's a qualitative difference between "really good lower order batsman" and "actual top six batsman".
