I hate work too, but even if I loved it, I can't imagine anything beating scoring a test match hundred!

But it was just the individual views of those two, I'm sure there are people out there who would find making some big business deal way more satisfying ... each to their own, I'd have thought.
Yeah but for some people, scoring a Test hundred and playing seventy Tests or so is the emotional peak of their working career. There's nothing wrong with that even if they could have professional success elsewhere. I just don't see why that has to be minimised.

Yeah but they probably won't get as much emotional satisfaction and a sense of "accomplishment", in their words, out of making a bunch of money running some random business than they were playing Test cricket for their country. That seems to be pretty obviously what both are getting at there, so it seems churlish to critique them for just saying they could make tons of money doing something else.
You've totally misread my post.

nothing to do with making money, to do with having the financial security to take time to retrain and gather experience in another field. I wasn't even talking about making money from another career, just simply picking a field that brings meaning.

They talked about this in the last hour of radio commentary. It was hot and dry enough for a pitch appearance of plates and cracks to be visible last season with England, when there were the grubbers and occasionally huge turn. Pitch given a poor review so there's not any tectonic plates look under the grass this time. Locals tipping just some moderate turn in this game from day 4.
Hope so, though imagine it will be slow turn, the type that might crush an Ajaz Patel's soul after 28 wicketless overs bowled into the middle of a bat.

Couldn't stay up last night so missed just about everything but it looks like Abid is batting rather well right now. Very compact.

Isn’t the idea of a nightwatchman to prevent the next batsman from coming in, not to make the nightwatchman face as many balls as possible to protect the batsman who is already in? Surely making the nightwatchman face as many balls as possible just maximises the chance he’ll get out? McMillan putting a new spin on things...

Who knows. Its a weak tactic at the best of times. Teams love knocking over a night watch man cheaply, whether it be at the end of a day’s play or to build a bit of energy at the start of the next.

Selectors need to make a brave call.

What are the source for the speeds? Made up? Or from something?
