*Official* West Indies in New Zealand - Nov/Dec 2020

True we have a number of decent bowling and batting options missing for this series, as do NZ. But it's hard for us to put together a cohesive bowling unit when the strongest options never play with each other. I agree with Prince EWS that Edwards and Bravo would improve things. We desperately need some young bowlers to show some T20 prowess or in a few years we really will be a 220 plus total or lose team.

yeah, I remember at one stage I considered him potentially Root/KW/Smith/Kohli level

had 6 tons and averaged 47 after 30 tests, which was about the rate they were going before they all stepped up a gear and he shifted down one
The Big Idiot happened. He has a lot to answer for. Our administrators are experts at creating problems not solving them.

I know that it's satisfying when a batsman hits a six but these kiwi commentators are making me uncomfortable with their cries of "***" every time the ball sails over the rope.

Holy crap that was some crazy batting. How do you go from losing 5/sfa to putting up a total of 180 in only 16 overs?

Our batting lineup, even without Lewis, Simmons and Russell, is all kind of danger to the opposing team. Unfortunately our bowling lineup is mostly only a danger to themselves.

I don’t know the last time our red ball outfit cleared 500 in an innings; be it in tests or these lampy-pampey matches
Good signs but I have to remind myself that Sunil Ambris dominated every NZ bowler he came across in the warm ups last time and then proceeded to step on his stumps with alarming regularity.

Quick thought circulating the rounds on twitter. Do we think Jamieson got away with more bouncers than he should have at Allen and Pollard? I missed that segment of our innings so don't really know but some West Indies fans are saying the umpiring on the short balls was a bit inconsistent. They wanted Oshane to bowl 6 short balls per over to see how many the umpires would call
Yeah, I thought it was pretty inconsistent. The Windies seemed to definitely get away with less than we did

Phillips is undoubtedly better. Seifert in T20/ODIs does seem to try and hit the living **** out of every ball so I wonder if he could benefit from a change in approach. He has started to build a decent FC record, wonder if he could bring a little more control and shot selection to his limited overs batting.
Yeah, he does doesn't he. He's either in full on snot it mode or defending, with nothing in between. And that hasn't changed from the time he debuted. He relies on bad balls to score. Doesn't generally make his own length, hit good balls for four (unless snotting) and seems to have no mindset to rotate strike.

That was a strange but an entertaining game but quality of bowling barring couple of bowlers was like the local club cricket. No control over line and length, number of no balls both over the line and beamers, saw it all. Maybe the ball was wet but still stepped over the line number of times.

Conway was awesome, played a waiting game and found boundaries when required. Can't see Kane, Devon and Taylor all play at the same time though.

Not sure why Neesham doesn't play more regularly in T20Is. He should be.

For a change Santner scored some runs. Phillips definitely need to be given more credit, got the big runs over at the right time.

Has anyone else seen the official 'highlights' (a term I use very, very loosely) video for this match?

It's... something else.
Hey yeah I was gonna bring this up too. Whoever the person they have at NZC or spark editing/rendering footage has no idea about cricket. Cut out most of Ferguson's wickets and NZ batting in the "highlights". Like doing highlights of matches played in recent years at 480p quality wasn't embarrassing enough. Shell out of a few bucks and hire a proper video editor, NZC.
