Any changes for Sunday's game? Sodhi for Bennett potentially?
That's the only likely change right? Bennett was awful. Mind you, Sodhi was very average in helpful conditions during the cpl so they might give Bennett another go.

Windies should replace Powell with Mayers and perhaps Kesrick or Keemo for Romario Shepherd or Hayden Walsh Jr.

Could be Mitchell for Bennett. Santner will be bowling full spells at the Mount so Neesham and Mitchell can share the 5th bowler role.
This is more likely you feel. Also while Santner did play a good knock no. 7 is still one position too high for him (so too no.8 for Southee), need the added depth in batting.

henry cooper is shutting up shop in the A game. clearly wants to make a very long, attritional statement.

is that rachin's first fc 50 this summer?

I think the T20I batting we showcased yesterday is the way to go. Fair number of power hitters, maybe one or two at the most to tap around. If we stick to this sort of batting we will more than we lose. It's got to be played in this fashion unless maybe the pitch is not conducive for batting. In the past we have gone safety first which doesn't help. Try and get as many as possible. Go hard early and have couple of guys in the middle order that also go hard. Worse comes worse we will lose with a reasonable margin. No point dying wondering. I like this approach. Hope they stick to it. If Conway had to play and so should Kane then Taylor has to make way I guess. I'd persist with Phillips, Seifert and Jimmy. Santner is a bit of a hit and miss with the bat. Can't see him at no.7 but can be a no.8 I'd slot in CDG or Mitchell in his place and have Jimmy batting at no.6

T20s should be the least complicated format for batters, see ball hit ball is the way to go. Bowlers should be doing all the thinking. Long format the batters have to work really hard, have a perfect gameplan. Somewhere in between is the one day.

Cooper's sent packing by Billy. That was definitely going down leg. Maybe falling over created that illusion. Ideally when the ball hits in line with the stumps the ball stays on the pitch. If it's going down leg or off most of the times they are not going to hit the stumps or hit outside the line.

Yeah looking forward to seeing how Holder goes this time round - last time in NZ he was more of a stock bowler than a wicket-taker, has clearly developed since then.

rare quality in a bowler-captain too where he seems to know when and how to rotate himself. probably overbowls a little, but one of the best at knowing when to bring himself on and when to take himself off i reckon

i think that's one thing WI have missed ever since kraigg was done for throwing, and that is (barring chase) that guy who could come on and be a partnership breaker or give their main bowlers a rest.

obviously this wouldn't be a problem if their bats could last more than 70 overs to give the bowlers a break, but having the extra bowling options always helps to rest guys, especially on a hot day - and given how injury prone some of the WI quicks are it'd be a boon

John Campbell was a decent option who turned the ball a lot for a part timer, but he was chucking them as well so that option is gone. Personally I think Kyle Mayers would be the option as a 5th seamer and attacking number 6.

Really pleased with this warm up so far. They've all bowled really tightly on an absolute road where we scored pretty quickly.

Particularly impressed with Chemar Holder, looks like he's winning the 3rd seamer race with Alzarri.

Yeah I thought too... how's he bowling with that action. That is outright chuck
I really don't like his bowling anyway so would be rather pleased if they called him again. In fairness to him he got called and then the tests showed he didn't chuck, but it's pretty hard to see how.

im a bit concerned about guppy tbh. can't remember the last time he scored runs in any format or at any level.

disagree with the thread on seifert. he is a bit block bash in white ball cricket, but i've been impressed with his adaptability in red ball cricket and he obviously has a solid eye. just never let him keep wicket.

He had a good ODI series against India earlier in the year, scored 32, 79 and 66 against one of his less favoured opponents, so still some gas in the ODI tank. But yeah he’s past his peak and will battle to stay relevant for 2023 considering he’s never been that good in the subcontinent.

**** weather coming up today all over the country. It's been pouring here all night in Wellington. Probably a T10 game coming up today for the black caps.

Showers predicted all day and easing past afternoon but wondering why are we not playing under lights? Bay Oval has lights and it doesn't make sense to play a day game with showers predicted.
