*Official* West Indies Tour of England 2020

Whatever it takes!!!
i know many indian fans think everything here is a moist greenie but you can rule out spinners here unless they're in the nathan lyon mould.

Nah, I know you guys give us tracks like that but the BMac 300 game is an example of the kind of track where a better spinner would have helped us heaps. And bowling with more overspin is something bowlers can learn, just like Lyon learnt to bowl with more sidespin in India in 2017.

There are few better things in cricket than listening to two blokes who dominated the sport by pumping down four 90mph bouncers per over extolling the virtues of pitching the ball up.

Roach has gone looking for the magic ball that hits off stump after pitching leg a few times this innings. Pretty unusual for him.

EDIT: Meant to say the lack of wickets must be getting to him.

nah, bowling spin in modern nz is just a miserable pursuit. no spinner is getting assistance from the basin except bounce.

seddon park is your best bet for turn, or maybe uni oval.

Yes Crawley got 76 in the last game so it makes sense for him to have been selected over Denly for this Test. But I wonder how he got into the squad in the first place? He really hasn't been particularly prolific in county cricket, with an average of 30 and three hundreds in 70 innings. Could it simply be he is the young player in Ed Smith's county side?
None of us really know. Lack of viable alternatives at the top of the order seems to be the reason.

Well, given I only meant you should not rule them out, I think you are making my point for me. :) I am not saying they will key or they will be more important than seamers but if you get a track that is damp and a bit of rain before the game, the finger spinner, a good one especially, can be as difficult for batsmen as the seamers. Of course, they will be less and less effective as the game goes on. But like I said, just don't like ruling out an option totally in most conditions.

Damp tracks tend to help turn, especially finger spinners. May flatten out with a bit of sunshine but right now, its a great deck for someone like Chase. Not sure if Bess will get the same assistance.
You'd love to see these guys playing on a drying wicket in the days before they were covered during breaks from play.

Still don't think we've really turned up today really. Worst I've seen us bowl for quite some time.

i am not, and they suck here barring lyon and maharaj, which the stats will show if i could be bothered pulling them up. at best seddon park turns like i succeed - very slowly and imperceptibly.

we'll leave it here though because i don't want to take over the thread.

yea it's silly. rakheem arguably makes a combined test side between these two. toss up between him and bess, and rakheem is fat so i choose him.

England would be kicking themselves to be 2 down for not that many against this WI effort. Tried their best to give away all momentum from last week.
