Not quite sure tbh, he’s bowling the same pace and lines. Just seems to get tucked into every now and then which just gets worse as the innings progresses but he still does well on other occasions. Amit Mishra syndrome.

Whatever it takes!!!
His wrong un and the regular stock ball have different trajectories and maybe they worked it out and are therefore able to line him up easier. And he has very little variation in pace to boot.

Amazing batting effort from NZ there. Despite the wobbles, they controlled the game amazingly well once Kuldeep came in and they targetted him. I thought we left about 15 runs on the table there while batting as our batting in the last 10 was no great shakes. That, and some of our fielding have been the main worries. Bumrah wil be back soon and it was an off day with all those wides. My worry is Shami often just runs in and puts the ball somewhere with basically nothing behind it. He seemed to have gotten over it for the most part in tests but in ODIs I am still seeing it way too often for comfort. Given the next ODI is in Eden Park, I would actually go #batdeep and play this XI:

Mayank
Prithvi
Kohli (c)
Shreyas
Rahul (wk)
Jadhav
Dube
Jadeja
Shami
Saini
Bumrah

And bowl Jadhav for whatever overs necessary.
You say bat deep but pick Dube. :/

I'd much rather have Umesh on reserves than Thakur.
It seems it is a gigantic task to relegate Thakur to bench in the first place. The guy seems to play every single match these days  Has tremendous cheer leading potential also.

The stroke play from Ross.. that six off Bumrah..

Things go South every time Tim is given the ball at the death.

Outstanding effort by the batters. Taylor's inning, one for ages. Latham pure class. Much credit to Nicholls for a good positive knock at the top. If this can be continued will be in for a good couple of test matches.

Latham's effort, where the hell did that come from? Serious striking and intent.

Worth remembering that we're operating with our 2nd string bowling line up. Boult Lockie Henry were the guys who got the job done in England.

There's still light at the end of the tunnel then. Hope we put some memorable performances before the season is done.

Was at Queen + Adam Lambert last night, but seems like the team suddenly plays a lot better once Stead is gone.

Yeah, especially after a scratchy start where he was on 1 after about 11 balls. I was thinking they should have promoted Neesham. He really turned it on. Maybe being captain deepened his resolve to take the game by the scruff too.

Taylor is just a ridiculous ODI bat, definitely NZ's GOAT in the format.

Was a fun game, but both teams were atrocious in the field. So many wides, misfields and dropped catches.

Was there any reason Sodhi only bowled four overs? Saw him get rid of Kohli in the bar before the concert, very impressive stuff, although everyone looked a bit surprised.

sometime during his captaincy stint he worked out how to almost mechanically accumulate odi runs with ruthless efficiency.

his test batting has more style, but his odi batting is the most efficient. it's a shame he had a run of poor form in all formats in 2015 thanks to his eye, because he might well have a stratospheric record without that run (he still managed to grind out starts despite batting with a pool cue). he also goes under the radar because he's quite happy to grind out bowlers in an odi before destroying them when they falter. not every knock is like last night where he was on 30 very quickly without anyone noticing.

wc semi was an extreme example of his mechanical batting. half the thread was yelling at he and kane to bat faster but they read the pitch perfectly and fought through a tough period before kane went searching. the thread erupted at taylor for batting too slow but he set up the winning score in challenging conditions with a respectable strike rate, because in odis that's what he does.

the indian top 3 didn't learn the lesson in that game. tbf it was a tough deck to get in on and they got good nuts early. jadeja is a bit of a freak. one of those blokes who can time the ball on any pitch. i'd love to see him and cdg bat for a while on an attritional pitch together. they both rocket along on anything.
