Get rid of Thakur now. Even in dark days of meme fast bowlers, we did play such a spud in the XI as a permanent fixture.

Great effort by NZ. Good win.

India should replace Thakur and Kuldeep with Saini and Yuzi. Apparently Kuldeep has an injured finger!

Terrific from Ross. Had been critical of him as senior pro during the Australia tour and was not happy (maybe a bit unfairly) with his failing to finish the job in the last 3 T20s, but this was a masterclass against a difficult attack. Definitely up there with the 181* 2 years ago vs England.

Badly needed win, that one, for the overall confidence of the side.

What a win! Serious serious intent here from our boys. So heartwarming and pleasing to see :) FINALLY. The lefties came in and injected so much life into this chase. Nicholls was smashing it in the Ford Trophy and thankfully he's carried on. Tom's recovered well and the boss just looked so determined and positive tonight. Even put the good balls away for boundaries. Good to see them coming face to face with their recent demons at the end there and still get over the line with a professional performance. No thriller, a comfortable win. Great stuff.

Yeah Thakur is a throwback to India around 2004-2007 when they'd pick any seamer due to severe lack of depth. Mind-boggling Saini's not getting a game

Any news on Bhuvi btw?

Finally! Still some wobbles at the end. Hesson seemed particularly annoyed with Neesham's dismissal. Nice to see Latham and Nicholls add some steel to the batting. Unreal innings from Latham in particular and Kohli acknowledged how crucial that was.

Stead will be particularly relieved given the outrage over his absence after a losing streak.

Yeah, Hesson has indicated earlier he isn't Neesham's biggest fan, was still a bad shot given the situation.

Latham was very scratchy to begin with and suddenly found a different gear once up against Kuldeep Yadav. Nicholls too played his part, was nice to not have any wickets lost at the ten over mark. Definitely justified the decision not to go back to Munro. If Southee does play the remaining two games, should be kept away from the death overs as far as possible.

Whatever it takes!!!
Amazing batting effort from NZ there. Despite the wobbles, they controlled the game amazingly well once Kuldeep came in and they targetted him. I thought we left about 15 runs on the table there while batting as our batting in the last 10 was no great shakes. That, and some of our fielding have been the main worries. Bumrah wil be back soon and it was an off day with all those wides. My worry is Shami often just runs in and puts the ball somewhere with basically nothing behind it. He seemed to have gotten over it for the most part in tests but in ODIs I am still seeing it way too often for comfort. Given the next ODI is in Eden Park, I would actually go #batdeep and play this XI:

Mayank
Prithvi
Kohli (c)
Shreyas
Rahul (wk)
Jadhav
Dube
Jadeja
Shami
Saini
Bumrah

And bowl Jadhav for whatever overs necessary.

Kuldeep has been worked out now after the honeymoon period of 2017-18. Been smashed on a few occasions by Australia, WI and now NZ. How he bounces back from this will define his career.

After losing first ODI against Australia Thakur was dropped for Saini for next 2 games. I expect same thing will happen here.

As I said before, I'd much rather have Umesh on reserves than Thakur.
