Another botched up selection decision with Santner unavailable. Although it won't make a difference but Chapman now has to play as a front line spinner. That is the dumbest decision ever. He's going to bat at no.8 Try and digest that. I called it when they announced Sodhi is available for the first game but not any after which is crazy. Now we are down with one spinner (although helps not to have a spinner) with Santner out with an injury but Sodhi is not available. Helps the batting line up with Chapman at no.8 but I don't know if he can be one of your main bowler. Hope he goes really well with the ball.

Since last year they announce the team they go like so and so for first game and the second game then someone else for the next one or two. What is this bullshit? Just announce one team already and make a change if someone is out injured.

Going to be a new role at the international level for Chapman. Don't think he's suited for batting at 6 to 8 at all.

Thankfully we still have 5 main bowlers including CDG and Jimmy. Chapman likely to chip in with few overs and not his entire quota of overs. He's never bowled in an international game as yet.

chapman at #8? seriously?

on young - he shouldn't be playing the indian tests because blundell should be opening. we don't need to follow up another conversion experiment that actually worked with another.

young opening is less about some central districts agribusiness conspiracy to screw over nz by winning the shield all the time and more larsen trying to be clever for the sake of it. the true long term strategy is to give ravindra exposure in his chosen position and for the young/phillips/seifert group to be ready to replace the boss maybe as soon as the end of this summer.

conway also becomes available soon, and he opened in sa.

just because we have more than 11 test standard players it doesn't mean we need to get funky in an attempt to fit 13 or 14 into 11. i like having the depth of young/phillips/seifert as injury or form cover.

Chapman I realize didn't even bowl an over for NZ A. Happy to see Jamieson play but barring the last one day game he actually got smashed. I don't have a good feeling about this game with out bowling options and India chasing.

Ticket prices have been ridiculous this season. I've yet to even attend a game within NZ (although the Boxing Day test prices were cheaper than any of the home games in Wellington have been or will be).

Whatever it takes!!!
Bumrah is bowling more loose balls in NZ than he does anywhere else. Dunno if it is anything to do with the wind or the dimensions and the strange shapes of the grounds. Had a lot of bad luck so far too though. If he is saving all his luck for the tests, NZ may well rue him not getting rfew wickets here so far.

That was an assault, Bumrah being picked off no matter what he bowls. Guptill can be so dominant no matter who bowls.
