I actually had Lawry and Simpson opening but last minute swapped Hayden in. Should have left it as Simpson-Lawry is still the best ever Aussie opening partnership averaging 60, nearly 10 runs higher than anyone else.Would also consider Lawry over Hayden.
He probably will go past Woodfull and maybe Ponsford by the end of his career in my mind. He's pretty good tbh.Warner getting dizzy being in that company
It's sad but hard to deny.Seeing Warner being mentioned along with Woodfull and Ponsford almost makes you wish you could make yourself vomit on demand.
Yeah I still think he and Lawry are our best ever opening combo. If you get a chance, watch him taking on Wes Hall in the Melbourne test of the 60/61 series. Came out blazing. Is a good watch if you can find some footage.Bob Simpson is underrated IMO. Great opener
Absolutely. However, that is not the primary reason they are picked. All of them have great record against WI. Batting is a big bonus though.#batdeep
Underrated as a cricketer in general. Arguably one of the two best openers in Aussie history, brilliant slip fielder and useful 5th bowler. For me an automatic selection for an AT Australian XIBob Simpson is underrated IMO. Great opener
