There it's done... Yes the Aussies have bowled well and we expect that but our boys barring Taylor and Kane we've batted rubbish not like a test no.2 side.

Fair number of dismissals not worthy of getting out to. We've batted just about 50 overs. Leaving Taylor's and Kane's runs we've scored about 60 runs between 9 batters. That's outright bad batting.

What was Mike Hussey talking about (will NZ look to bat time)? Its day 3, there're hundreds of overs left in the test, this is the last wicket; Southee is a six hitter and Lockie can't run.

Absolutely no chance Australia would bowl again.

But there is a non zero chance of them declaring early tonight and giving NZ a sniff.

How do you know hazelwood would have been injured on the first day

Face it, NZ are getting dicked right now. Blaming the toss is laughable
You misunderstand my question.

In some tests the toss is important (in India, in this test), in others not so important. Fact is that Hazelwood was injured in the 2nd over he bowled. I was interested in what other posters thought may have happened if NZ batted first against 2 quicks + Lyon + part timers.

All three days we're bowling in this heat. This will take a lot out of the bowlers. Just hope Australia score some runs and declare today otherwise the bowlers will have nothing left for the next test.

NZ disappointing on the opening Test of an Oz tour is safer to rely on than money in the bank.

Was wondering how they got to No 2 in the Test rankings based on the batting performance; seems to be based on a lot of soft wins at home as much as anything.

Was there some cosmic divine force that guaranteed that Hazlewood would get injured in the 2nd over he bowled? Otherwise this logic makes no sense.

If NZ bowl tomorrow it will mean they have 10 days recovery before the next Test.

So I dont agree.

Away record is one of the best out there, leaves Australia's for dust.

Yeah, that's why fast bowlers should be neutered

As for Starc, him ignoring Saker's advice to try and be a swing bowler and become a pure pace bowler has turned around his Test career. Interesting parallels with Mitch Johnson's career.

Well that was comprehensive. Even Taylor who otherwise was exceptional came out second best to Lyon.

Clinical application of a pretty standard formula from Australia at home, even though I do agree the toss was very vital. NZ better than this, but I think the success against an uninspired England on lifeless pitches as preparation has been put into perspective here.

Wish they'd somwhow batted into the second session today. Feel sorry for Southee and Wagz to come out and toil again during the worst part of the day.

The only thing that could deny Australia a win from here is over confidence. Our bowlers are gonna be cooked after this test.

As poor as we've been with the bat here, that's a really unfair assessment IMO.

NZ have been very good on the subcontinent, haven't toured much anywhere else though drew the last series in England and won in Windies (4 years ago). Aussie like conditions have been very rare, would back the side to adapt like they have elsewhere but i fear it may be too late in the series.
