Day 5 cracks and 40 degree weather? No need to take the risk.55 overs, I know they have the injury, but I'd be tempted to just keep bowling here if I was Aus.

You misunderstand my question. How do you know hazelwood would have been injured on the first day
Face it, NZ are getting dicked right now. Blaming the toss is laughable
Was there some cosmic divine force that guaranteed that Hazlewood would get injured in the 2nd over he bowled? Otherwise this logic makes no sense. You misunderstand my question.
In some tests the toss is important (in India, in this test), in others not so important. Fact is that Hazelwood was injured in the 2nd over he bowled. I was interested in what other posters thought may have happened if NZ batted first against 2 quicks + Lyon + part timers.
If NZ bowl tomorrow it will mean they have 10 days recovery before the next Test. All three days we're bowling in this heat. This will take a lot out of the bowlers. Just hope Australia score some runs and declare today otherwise the bowlers will have nothing left for the next test.
Away record is one of the best out there, leaves Australia's for dust.NZ disappointing on the opening Test of an Oz tour is safer to rely on than money in the bank.
Was wondering how they got to No 2 in the Test rankings based on the batting performance; seems to be based on a lot of soft wins at home as much as anything.
Yeah, that's why fast bowlers should be neuteredAll three days we're bowling in heat. This will take a lot out of the bowlers. Just hope Australia score some runs and declare today otherwise the bowlers will have nothing left for the next test.
As poor as we've been with the bat here, that's a really unfair assessment IMO.NZ disappointing on the opening Test of an Oz tour is safer to rely on than money in the bank.

NZ have been very good on the subcontinent, haven't toured much anywhere else though drew the last series in England and won in Windies (4 years ago). Aussie like conditions have been very rare, would back the side to adapt like they have elsewhere but i fear it may be too late in the series.NZ disappointing on the opening Test of an Oz tour is safer to rely on than money in the bank.
