3rd Test at Headingley, Leeds

Tom Flint

International Regular
Arguably worth the 80 run trade off for not being 40/5 at close which we would have been if we'd gone out to bat tonight
Though I will say did Warner actually give up a chance? Went to bed at Tea so can't say for certain. IMO there's a difference between playing and missing heaps and actually being dropped or otherwise out but not given.

EDIT: Plus also Warner looked a lot more fluent once he reached 15. Burns was looking dodgy all innings.
He played and missed 12 of his first 25 deliveries. No chances and looked good when 1st and second change came on.
Why is Pattinson batting above Cummins?

Their batting records are very similar, it's touch n go who should bat higher. Pattinson perhaps a bit looser but can certainly score more freely

They're pretty good signs when Smith's coming back into the side next match. He'd be relieved someone else is making any at all.

Surely Khawaja has to go unless he makes a ton second dig? The bloke just goes missing whenever he needs to step up. He's the anti-Steve Waugh.

I didn't see a ball of last night but from reports the Aussie bats didn't actually do as bad as it looks. Ball was moving all over the place apparently. Any chance of similar conditions tonight?

Probably not to the same degree, but there is a bit of cloud tonight so....maybe? Days 3-5 look very sunny and warm though.

It's worrying that Wade has done jack **** outside 1 innings too

I was very concerned with 6 wade 7 paine as they form a handy state muddle order but nothing else against quality bowling. Of course Kurt Patterson and Alex Carey have shown more fight and also i think Renshaw could do a Rory Burns this series too.

Yes, more left handers ffs.

Softest player isn’t he

I can't see him surviving unless he has a great innings in the next few. **** the bed against India at home too. Can't believe people were trying to claim Khawaja was as good a batsman as Martin Love

Khawaja dominates at the level Love did. He is as good. Usman can make runs for fun when playing domestic cricket. Love would have been exploited lbw/bowled/edged behind (common dismissal methods I know) if he played Test Cricket more frequently.

Great qld cricket servant though.
