Saw that big shot coming from Rohit a mile away, looked so annoyed at giving a maiden over to Maxwell

One could say that Kohli is a moderate upgrade on Tendulkar.
That is about dead right considering many factors like longevity, era adjustments, world cup performances.

1. Viv
2. Kohli
3. Tendulkar
4. ABD
5. Ponting

I would say that the gap between Kohli and Viv is one Viv innings(138*).

I rate de Villiers ahead of Tendulkar. De Villiers always scared me more than Tendulkar. Not too much between them though.

I used to think the same an year back. His retirement before the world cup brings him down slightly imo. Not much between them anyways as you mentioned.

Dude Pant, Jadhav, Kohli and Rahul can all go for broke rather easily.
Damn, I missed that Pant is playing. No one else is a hitter - they are all proper batsman, India has no heavy hitter in the main team apart from Pandya.

By heavy hitter I meant someone who can score quick from ball one, Kohli and Rahul can easily come in and play a 50 (25) type innings if the sitution demands.

Long innings of sub-100 SR on a flat deck are a genuine risk these days, so I can understand the concern. We see so many of them ending up in losses. See Gayle's first 100 in the recent series against England for an example.

I think the perfect script would be to be just 1-2 wickets down by 40th over and every one goes berserk from that point. Even if we are 3 wickets down at that stage, batsmen would not be having enough freedom to go after every ball knowing very well the reputation of the batsmen to follow.

Pandya is so critical for the team due to the same reason. Gives the top order the freedom to accelerate much earlier.

Yeah, but I'd rather let the openers bat and come back into form. I really don't think the batsman who are gonna come in are capable of accelerating beyond what a set Rohit/Dhawan will anyway do.

So they are not back in form batting at 60 and 80 odd?
