Maybe it is to replace Gabriel who had a bruised toe. 2 wickets at 35.00. All the others average is in the teens. In other news we've kept the same squad, but added Oshane Thomas officially, not just as back up. I wonder if they're considering bringing him in for a 5 pace attack? Now that would be fun
Hopefully, the wi dont go down this route. Stick with the tried and tested combo of 4 bowlers 6 batsmen and the keeper. Wi top order tbh didn't impress, adding an extra bowler would just weaken the already suspect batting lineup further. In other news we've kept the same squad, but added Oshane Thomas officially, not just as back up. Agreed. As FBU said, Oshane should be back up for Gabriel.Hopefully, the wi dont go down this route. Stick with the tried and tested combo of 4 bowlers 6 batsmen and the keeper. Wi top order tbh didn't impress, adding an extra bowler would just weaken the already suspect batting lineup further.
Tbf he's ridiculously well built. Can't be fun facing him.The name Oshane means "Strong one" and is of Jamaican origin (google).
I don't think those figures reflect how well he bowled 2nd innings. His spell to root started the collapse imo.Maybe it is to replace Gabriel who had a bruised toe. 2 wickets at 35.00. All the others average is in the teens.
I expect England to go with 2 spinners again and lose the toss.
This guy gets it.Instead of tinkering with the batting, first make sure you don't go in with just 1 genuine pacer.

Lollipop is with the England A team in India; did well in the fourth game scoring 65 before he was run out.what happened to Pope?
Rashid over Leach in the recent test could be another case of doing it on purposeIt was largely just an accident. They did tend to pick their best four or even five bowlers (or at least who they thought were their best four or even five bowlers) for each Test well even well into the era they had an awesome lower order in; it just so happened that a few of those guys could seriously bat.
I think Curran's selection at times has drifted into the realm of doing it on purpose, but him aside Moeen and Stokes just make picking a "normal" eleven counter-productive a lot of the time, even ignoring their top order struggles.
Cheers for sharing that a good article and I agree with most of it, he's completely wrong about Bairstow and Root however, Bairstow has batted in 2 tests at no.3 so it's way to early to say either way, and Root is awful at 3, his overall record he averages about 10 less runs at 3 rather than 4, and since becoming captain he averages 28.54 @ 3 and 49.27 @ 4An outsider asks: what's going on with English cricket? | ESPNcricinfo.com
Manjrekar's take on English selection.
No I'd say they they just genuinely made a mistake in selection there.Rashid over Leach in the recent test could be another case of doing it on purpose
I thought Rashid over Leach was primarily because Rashid's a 'wicket taker' who 'offers something different' and being a wristspinner 'can get that bit extra out of the pitch' even though his first class career paints him as mediocre at best and Root clearly doesn't trust him, not without reason might I add. Leach is just a boring left armer, and England's never had any success with those...Rashid over Leach in the recent test could be another case of doing it on purpose
Yes, this 'Root must bat 3' thinking frustrates me, anyone who's watched Root bat knows he's more suited to four both technically and temperamentally. He could move to 3 and it wouldn't help because almost no batsmen in contention is suited to 4, they're fives or lower. Meanwhile his own performance would decline further (I personally think he needs to not be captain, but it's not like there's alternatives screaming out).and Root is awful at 3, his overall record he averages about 10 less runs at 3 rather than 4, and since becoming captain he averages 28.54 @ 3 and 49.27 @ 4
Yeah the discussions surrounding where Root should bad in the team is the most annoying thing about English cricket at the minute, I blame the Aussies and their obsession with the idea that the best bat should bat 3, instead of batting the players in positions that suit them. I agree that the captaincy is the biggest thing though, I'd be half tempted to give it Buttler if he keeps up his form.I thought Rashid over Leach was primarily because Rashid's a 'wicket taker' who 'offers something different' and being a wristspinner 'can get that bit extra out of the pitch' even though his first class career paints him as mediocre at best and Root clearly doesn't trust him, not without reason might I add.
