To be fair, that was a pretty thorough working over to get when fresh at the crease
Yeah its fair enough. But I'm trying to see players push on. He has got a couple of good 50s this series but if failures happen in between that like they have been in his career his average will stay between 30-35.

Good spells happen in test cricket.

The team wasn't in trouble when Bavuma came in. That's the sort of situation when he tends not to make runs...

We have not hit 250 runs yet anything less than 380+ on this pitch would be a disappointing performance. Particularly with this start.

But if you going to complain, de Bruyns wicket is the catalyst and he needed to take responsibility. Bavuma got worked over by Amir in a beauty of an over.

Oh yeah, that's what makes the unconverted 50s so galling, because things like today will always happen and there's not a great deal you can do about it. So you gotta cash in.

400 now turning to can we get 350 now after that.

Brilliant stuff from Amir. He is solid these days but you just wonder what he can do to become that attacking force again.

Great comeback this. 400 seems a world away and they still need to bat well to get 300, which is well below par here. Only solace is that Abbas and Amir can’t go on for much longer.

Really encouraging. It would be nice to see him v Sri Lanka.
It's a bit of a selection poser as barring injury there's only one batting spot available. De Bruyn may have earned himself a bit of a reprieve with his innings today, but Hamza's taken his chance and certainly hasn't looked out of place at this level. And then there's Mulder back from injury who improves the team balance with his bowling.
