Excuses for Australia losing the series:
- banned players
- lost tosses
- biased selections

and now

- rain ruining almost certain come-from-behind victory

very unfortunate poor Aussies

Yep - rain in Australia only ever saves the touring teams and costs Australia wins. Proof this series should have been 2-2

Just saw an interview with Handscomb where he basically implied that chopping on was a bit unlucky

Unfortunately, that ignores the fact that he has a gap between bat & pad which you could drive a bus through so his body can’t be used as a second line of defence

Bowlers are taking advantage of a technical flaw and there’s no luck involved
Chopping on is much more unlucky than most dismissals tbf

Cook inspires historic Ashes win

Cook inspires historic Ashes win

On this day in 2011, England completed an innings win over Australia in Sydney, thereby completing a 3-1 win series win, their first in Australia after 24 years. The architect of the win was Alastair Cook who notched up a fabulous 189 in the first innings as England, responding to Australia's 280 all-out, notched up a mammoth 644. There were centuries also for Ian Bell and Matt Prior as Australia bowled 178 overs. In their second essay, Australia scored one more than what they achieved in their first, as Jimmy Anderson added 3 more wickets to the four he had taken in the first innings, to condemn the hosts to an innings and 83 run defeat. Alastair Cook, who aggregated 766 runs in the five-match series, was duly named the player of the match and the series.

Being 2-1, it would have been interesting if we had a 5th test at the Gabba as Australia has been unbeatable there.

Of course this assumes we had new selectors and a 2nd XI fc game for our BBL players beforehand ;)
