Being 2-1, it would have been interesting if we had a 5th test at the Gabba as Australia has been unbeatable there.

Of course this assumes we had new selectors and a 2nd XI fc game for our BBL players beforehand ;)
lol you think BCCI would have let there be game at the Gabba? Tbh I'm surprised they didn't demand the first Test of the India tour of Australia be held in Chennai

Play called off.

This is right up there as one of the best moments in Indian cricket that I've watched, along with 2001 and the 2011 WC. Never ever thought I'd see a test series win in Australia. Thank you Fanie!

Rain saving AUS from certain defeat against IND since 1986 :@
1. 2nd Test, India tour of Australia at Melbourne, Dec 26-30 1985 | Match Summary | ESPNCricinfo

2. 2nd Test, Australia tour of India at Chennai, Oct 14-18 2004 | Match Summary | ESPNCricinfo

3. Now this test .

Thanks to this rain , IND will loose their no. 1 ranking when ICC rankings get updated in Mar 2019 as IND will loose points of their series victory against SL and SA . SA will most likely become no.1 ranked team as their series loss against IND and ENG will be removed from rankings calculation .

Didn't the Gabba lose the Test because of CA and it (the ground) not being up to scratch etc?

You gotta factor in the DN test as well..wonder if that might have made a difference to the series as well...

Adelaide, in hindsight, represents an enormous missed opportunity. You have a side 4/50 and 5/120 in the first session of a series starting as an underdog, you gotta close it out.

I think it was more because no one showed up and the pitch has become godawful

Yeh that too

Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland sent alarm bells ringing in the ears of Queensland Government officials during the Ashes Test when he admitted the Gabba has slipped to the number five Test venue in Australia.

He said the massive redevelopment at the Adelaide Oval and Perth’s new stadium meant “we need to understand the bar keeps rising.’’

“We have not seen any material developments at the Gabba in terms of improving public amenities for a while,’’ Sutherland said.

“There is a concern there for Queensland that this is probably number five or so in rankings of stadiums.’’

I was really annoyed by the BCCI refusing the DN test. Would have been a spectacle and a half.

Congrats India. Well deserved winners.

Lol at sunilz re the 2004 washout. Fmd India was 0/10 or something and their fans creamed themselves because sehwag (average 0.8 in fourth innings) hit the last ball of day four back past the bowler to the fence. As though it was a certainty they’d have won. Pull your head in, son.

Woo! The Australian BCCI has ranked their test grounds, have they? Which is the #1 ranked ground in Australia?

Yeah. The match timings would have been a lot more convenient too.

IND are touring AUS once again in 2020 . Let's hope pitches for that series are similar to this series and not like 2014-15 series .:)

Congratulations India. Thoroughly deserved winners. For all the talk about bad selections and the like, you were the better side in three out of the four tests and that's all that really matters.

Enjoy the win. Savor it. Let it taste as honey in your mouth before it all turns to ash when we tour India next and regain the Border-otherguy trophy ;).

Last time when IND failed to chase 200 runs at home , we both were under British rule .:)

And on the 4th day of that test AUS's last 6 wkts scored 221 runs . So Pitch was not rank turner by any means.

What’s the reason for the adjustment to the touring program which has India touring again in two years?

Today I learned that but for bad weather, India would have been the dominant side in world cricket since 1948.
