The point is that to make the batsmen stop it needs to affect them personally.
Make it like the bowling penatly for running on the wicket.
1st warning, 2nd warning, 3rd time given out "obstructing the feild" which law includes the phrase "distracts the fielding side", repeatedly going slow could be seen as distracting the fielding sides bowlers from getting into a proper rhythm of bowling.

TBF this lineup is just crap at batting in general. Even at home their performances get papered over by how good our spinners are + Jadeja and Ashwin scoring runs.

No one in this lineup has a stellar career record outside of Kohli, and they all have glaring flaws in their games.
Australia would kill to have Pujara available for selection now.

Yes, this is in hindsight but India should have sent Australia in. Australia's bowling is by far their best suit compared to batting. Always attack the weaker side first instead of taking the stronger side head on.

How about 'don't bat like ****'? It's a bat first pitch.

Look, I don't think the wicket had that much in it mate. You know an attack is on song when even Starc isn't wasting the new rock. Was seriously quality bowling.

Besides, it's nudging 40 degrees in Adelaide today.

Looks a good pitch tbh. Australia would probably be 130-1 right now if they'd been sent in. Australia's bowlers have been spot on all morning so it's not just exclusively bad batting.

I'm presuming the one would have been Finch nicking off throwing hands at a wide one while down on one knee trying to paste it over point in the second over.

Yes, that is always the ideal scenario. But like Burgey has said below, Australia's bowling is real quality. Indians are known to be poor starters. And everyone knows that Kohli gone, Indian batting is gone while the Indian bowling is more reliable now. A better start from the Indian bowlers which has a better probability could have given the confidence to batsmen too.

But yes, it is all what if now. I am just frustrated.

Fmd we are blessed having Cummins bowling first change. He's just quality.
He's our best bowler IMO. Could easily take the new rock but is less dependent on it than the other two so he bowls first change and still averages less than them.
