That caps a terrible tour for Latham, those 2 centuries on the previous visit well and truly a distant memory now. Pretty poor choice of shot nearing close of play.
Series ratings:

Latham - 1.5/10
Scored 99 runs at 16.5 but the 50 he got was irrelevant to the match result - average is 9.8 without that. Would win the prize for biggest discrepency between expectation and reality, though Taylor will probably take that after another sub-10 score here. Took some good catches but also dropped a couple.

Raval - 4/10
131 runs at 21.8. Like most of his career, he's struggling to be juuust below the required level, but tries his best to guts it out. Rating of 4 possibly generous for someone averaging 22 but looking back through his dismissals, I think he can feel pretty unlucky on several of them.

we should elevate colin to #3 and tell him to have a go. a bonus cameo to eat into the lead quickly would be useful, it shows confidence in him and we don't have to use the kane/taylor/nicholls/watling cards immediately.
I’m convinced he’s your son at this point.

de Grandhomme should never have played in this test once we decided to play Patel and Somerville, plus obvs Southee. But yeah, Larsen forgot to bring another batsman over so that plan was ****ed from the get go.

Did Raval hit that btw? I swear that I saw a massive inside edge on the quick replay I watched this morning.

I thought he got a fine edge on it before it hit the pad. Unfortunately snicko got all sounds at once and the 3rd umpire basically said 'I dunno, go with umpire's call that there was no edge'. Ball only clipping the very top of the stumps too.

Which one of you was drunk while watching?

He had a couple of dropped catches. Was generally better than the first innings. Can be unfortunate whilst still being crap.
Yeah Southee wasn’t bad at all. Besides his opinion on team reviews.
nah I meant they literally didn't show a single delivery of his on the highlights

ps who else thinks somerville looks like santner 10 years in the future?

Tremendous series this. Went to bed post tea expecting Pakistan to be 6 or 7 down by the end of the day but we were 2 down in the second go. Amazing stuff. The series still wide open. Couple of hundred runs from here and it's going to be touch and go. A good knock from Ross here would be icing on the cake.

Good series alright and NZ have held their own for the most part but will really have to play out of their skins today. More to the point need one daddy hundred. If I were a Pakistani supporter I'd be pretty miffed at losing a series where the opposition's highest individual score was 89 over three tests.

As much as we loathe some of the cricket played by us and the players not doing well enough I still think we haven't been to bad. We've been fighting all the way, selections have been more or less spot on. Id say Pakistan start as favorites but one good partnership in the morning it'll be cat among pigeons stuff for Pakistan.

Peak of the series today, Pakistan well ahead but we're still in it. This morning Pakistan could win the series, whereas NZ need a good whole day to stay competitive.

For some reason I'm not feeling that positive - just feel like now we're three tests into the series, Pakistan are making their superiority in these conditions felt and have the measure of our players (except Williamson). Prove me wrong, someone.

need a bit more #intent against yasir early on before he finds his rhythm. Lots of looseners in that over that went unpunished.

Taylor is starting to look like McCullum did in his last year or so of test cricket batting, when he just didn't care anymore.
