i think he realised the history he was using to say NZ is ****ed was just that, history. but we're living in the Kane & Somerville world now and Australia's inability to score 200 in the UAE is meaningless

Despite my previous ridiculously bad post a minute or so ago writing them off which I've since deleted, I think NZ are actually right in this game.

Only once has a team batted second here and won, and they had a first innings lead of 193.

Players batting in the fourth innings on this ground average 20.87.

Pakistan have marginally played the better cricket thus far but history suggests it's going to be a lot harder to bat fourth than third.

Somehow I managed to convince myself NZ were batting last when I was making that post, despite watching almost every ball of this match so far. I realised my error immediately after posting but it was still a complete brain melt for a few seconds there.

Nah I knew there'd only been one innings each, I just thought Pakistan were batting again next for a few seconds. It was a complete meltdown.

we should elevate colin to #3 and tell him to have a go. a bonus cameo to eat into the lead quickly would be useful, it shows confidence in him and we don't have to use the kane/taylor/nicholls/watling cards immediately.
