*Official* India Tour of England 2018

I hope you're right. But we don't have the strength in depth to fully compensate for losing Burns, Curran and Pope. Maybe England will lend a hand by continuing not to pick Curran.
To be honest I think Burns not playing for England from game one of the series is probably a gentleman’s agreement between England and Surrey seeing as Burns has the Surrey captaincy.

Really England need to look at bringing in Burns and Curran for the next game. Honestly Foakes could easily replace Bairstow and Curran in for Buttler. Burns for Jennings.

It’s getting so stacked with Surrey players though at that point and they are likely to have a gentleman’s agreement I think not to do that. I may well be wrong though at this stage of the series a gentleman’s agreement may go out the window. With India threatening to turn the series on its head.

Does Root still smoke? Not looking to lament anyone's appearance, though Root looked a lot healthier & happier not all that long ago imo.

I assume his back does still trouble him.

There was an article on cricinfo about a year or so ago about the propensity of teams being eviscerated (as opposed to being merely beaten). Or was it in Wisden? I think it was cricinfo. It is a modern trend. England definitely seem numero uno though. England are also widely inconsistent, delivering their own thrashings (Lord's) only to be thrashed themselves the next match. If there is a word describing the late-Cook/Root tenure it would be mercurial.

2015 Ashes is a good example of all this actually.

He doesn’t seem to have great fitness you are right. I believe his failings to make big scores are due to mental and physical deficiencies. England certainly don’t have a great fitness culture considering some of the players drink a lot and smoke.

Still, his brain (mental side) is a bigger issue than his back I believe

He looks even more like a corpse than I do, it's guaranteed.

Teams are more professional and respect each other more now. Once teams are on top they want to stay on top and don't give the opponent an inch. There isn't really any complacency now shown by teams, apart from teams like Bangladesh who get ahead of themselves at times.

I think it means if one team is built better (Team selectors, balance, personnel ) and especially built better for the conditions then they end up winning by a landslide considering it's a 5 day game with a lot of overs.

Rahul with a catch again. Quality, world class slip fielder.

I might be getting ahead of myself wrt his slip fielding, but he does seem really good.

Is Rahane in the slips btw? If not why? Rahul+Rahane has the potential to completely solve our slip catching woes if handled properly.
