I hope you're right. But we don't have the strength in depth to fully compensate for losing Burns, Curran and Pope. Maybe England will lend a hand by continuing not to pick Curran.
Cook is past it at this level and Jennings was never use to it. I personally think a double dropping is in order of the openers.
England with their airy fairy attitude have left themselves in a pickle. Yes man ed smith and James Taylor who wants to be everyone’s mate were always going to be a recipe for disaster tbh. Especially with a muppet like Root with c.
Plenty of other selection debate with a specialist number 7 bat, a thug in the side, a 20 year old batting out of position, Woakes not taking the new cherry, Rashid being mis-captained, bad slip cordon set up and selection and other stuff to debate.
England look dead and buried, especially considering Root has a mental block with getting big scores. It’s compounded when Kohli is on the field as Root is in awe of Kohli and also scared shitless of him
