I think Slippy meant "one of the top T20 cricketers" rather than "one of the top 20 cricketers"

To which I'd say definitely.
Nah I think he meant what he said. It's a more philosophical question than just ranking cricketers based on specific formats really. We have an unofficial "Tests unless specifically stated otherwise" rule on CW which makes the answer clearly no, but ignoring that it's more interesting. It may be that in 50 years people will look back and say clearly yes (note: I certainly hope not). We use "man ahead of his time" as a positive description of past players we rate really highly here all the time; maybe Gayle will looked at the same in an era where T20 franchise competence reigns supreme. In that case my posts will be looked upon as garbage though (bar this one).

No but I don't really care what anyone does in hit and giggle cricket anyway and rarely watch it. I guess when you look at his record in hit and giggle he is one of the best players ever in that format but he was only a good test player and a very good ODI player. Doesn't get him anywhere near the top 20 of all time.

It's funny how he lumbers along these days. Even the sixes he hits seem to be in slow motion. Never seen anyone take block bash to this extreme before.
He actually looks much fitter this season. Seems to have worked on his fitness a bit. He actually sort of runs between the wickets now.

He’s doing a George Best - spending most of his money on women and alcohol; and wasting the rest.

Ambati Rayudu

Kinda strange he has a batting average of 50 in one day international cricket and he never seems to get picked, he looks another under used player that India should have picked more.

Found it funny at him being described as a youngster by the commentators in the last IPL match.

Rayudu continued his terrific run of form with the bat on Wednesday as he scored yet another fifty to help his team overhaul the daunting target of 206 runs set by Bangalore. He played a splendid 53-ball knock of 82 runs before being run out in the 18th over. His knock consisted of three fours and eight gigantic sixes.

Was seen to struggle to accelerate the innings in ODIs, was dropped as a result.

Guy decides to continue to be coach mentor at Mumbai when he was told he must play Sri Lanka domestic cricket if he wants to be picked at international level.
