International Captain
Umesh Yadav

Just seen him bowl a amazing bowling spell against Punjab in a ipl, always makes you think why his international cricket career he never kicked on and become a world class standard bowler he had the talent for sure.

He is a real pace bowler though. His real strength internationally would be forming a part of India's pace attack. That country can now field Shami, Umesh, Bhuvi and Sharma with Ashwin. If you could teleport Kak back into that line up well ... Even so its a very good bowling side and, from an Aussie pov, complements a relatively strong batting side. They must be faves when they play us out here. Out of that lot I think Shami is the best but Umesh is my favourite.

Was so good throughout the home season, especially against England. Pretty annoying how Bumrah just leapfrogged him.

He's been a bit disappointing to me. Has pace, can swing the ball, but never really had the accuracy or consistency. I remember him hitting some pretty good speeds out here in 2011, although the speedguns were a bit hot that year.

He definitely seemed to improve in those aspects when he was dropped from the one day set up. He still has the odd bad spell in him (particularly with the new ball) but with the old ball reversing he's been top class and unplayable at times.

I know he's been good with the old ball, but there sure wasn't much difference between his performances in 2011/12 and 2014/15 in Australia. Perhaps my expectations were just too high.

There was quite a lot of difference when he came back in 14/15 - he bowled utter trash in that series compared to 11/12 where he looked promising. Granted the decks were awful but it was really poor. I think Kohli has decided he's going to be his SC reverse swing bowler. I don't see him playing ahead of Sharma/Bumrah overseas at this point.

One of Pant, Kishan and Samson will take over the mantle from Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik in ODIs and Saha in tests. We will have to wait and see who it is. My bet is on Pant.
