Ian Harvey
I thought about this too. But in the end I think he was really unlucky to have his career cross over the way it did with the Waughs, Watson and Symonds. I think he becomes another causalty of the supreme SWaugh/Punter era, of which there are several at the very least.

He is certainly someone who is deserving to have not only played test cricket, but a lot more than 70 odd odi matches. Mitch Marsh wouldn't have a sniff against him now. And back when he played, Harvey would walk into most teams bar Safrica and Australia. Former players always rant and rave about his skills.

I wouldn't claim Ian Harvey didn't get the opportunities he deserves. He's 43rd in CW's all time ODI Players list. That's more than enough tbh.

I agree, which is why I didn't nominate him before CricAddict did. But I still observe a caveat, is cricaddict talking test cricket, and even Harvey's ODI career is open to was he given a fair chance to bat higher?

The ODI situation I just put down to him being surrounded by too much talent. Which is also true for the tests to a point. But I think CricAddict needs to clarify in which format and why.

Okay, sure NZC from 1990 had Cairns (late 1989 in fact), Thomson, Wilson and Nash all make debuts, and spinning options that could bat like Bradburn and Priest were sniffing around with Matt Hart, but I nominate Richard Petrie 2.0 (the Wngtn allrounder version not the Canterbury fast bowler version) who was limited to Cricket Max Internationals only and not ever getting a return to odi after his debut season in 1990/91.

International Debutant
has been finished for a while now tbh. it would be nice for SLC to treat him with a bit more respect though and appreciate that he has been a good servant to SL cricket.

Yes, I was mainly thinking of tests only, which is sort of an unwritten rule in CW.

That where never given a fair go at international level name a few Rishi Dhawan is one.

Dwayne Smith, DJ Bravo, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell and Sunil Narine's spokesperson by the name of Darren Sammy just called asking for clarification on the topic ;)
